Demonophobia Negative Trait
So, just finished a flawless mission, and right after the promotion screen, one of my soldier "acquired" this trait.

The trait doesn't show up in the soldier stat/abilities screen and i cannot select the soldier in the infirmary to remove it.
Another bug or an intended "feature" ?

Rather simple fix for that one, just kill them all!

Are they currently fatigued? Wait until they are listed as available and try again.

He isn't fatigued, he was "fresh" just before this mission.
It's not the first time it happened (i think it happened to two other soldier during my campaign, but forgot to take a screenshot to have something to show).
Also, there was NO chosen in the mission i finished before he got this trait.
It's really anoying not knowing if this is fonctioning correctly or not , since the game doesn't tell you anything about it.

I haven't run into this problem yet, all negative traits so far were directly related to the missions they picked them up on.

I had half my squad gain two negative traits. They never got hit and they were fully rested when they went on mission. The traits aren't usually too big of a deal to take them off the roster to recover.

Another time, one gained Fear of Archons on a mission that featured ONLY berserkers and mutons (what??)

Having this issue too. One of my best soldiers randomly got a negative trait after a flawless mission. When I went to remove it in the infirmary, there was no option available to take it off...

Funny story. I sent two soldiers to improve their bond in the training center and one of them got the fear of the chosen trait immediately. I had saved right before sending them over there to train, so i reloaded and it happened again. Kicked a soldier out of therapy in the infirmary so i could get rid of it and low and behold, I can't. WTH Xcom, WTH

EDIT . . . before anyone asks, you can't send them to the training center unless they're healthy and not fatigued

Just blame Red Hook Studios, the Darkest Dungeon developers, for giving Jake Solomon "the great idea" of negative traits.

Because I know after 70+ hours of XCOM2, all I could keep thinking was, "If only this game had random negative traits for my troops, it would be so much MORE awesome!" :steamfacepalm: I don't have any yet. Maybe it won't bother me. I'm just not crazy about the idea. :steamsalty:

Honestly, I like the mechanic. It makes sense to have a soldier gravely wounded (or shaken) and have him screwed up afterwards.

This is happening to me too, and I can't figure it out. I got the notification saying my Ranger acquired a fear of Mutons. Even after he healed and rested, it doesn't appear on his character sheet, and I can't place him in the infirmary.

I haven't sent him on another mission yet, so I don't know if he actually has it. Maybe it healed when his wounds healed.

Where are the positive psychology perks to balance this out?

i actually had a negative trait show up on one of my soldiers as a pop up, but when I checked the soldier, it's not there and when on the tactical map it also isnt causing any issues. So far my assumption is that the bug is the popup is incorrectly showing something that actually never happened. Instead of the bug being you can't remove a negative trait.
