I admit those abilities on a Ranger are good, but you forgot one that maybe isn't as good as Serial but I think I'd much better then Death from above.
Blast Padding. Extra armor, less damage from explosives on your frontline guy. I'm sure we all had experiences of having our rangers grenaded or the car they had for cover exploding via Muton grenade.
Untouchable only works once per turn though if I'm not mistaken? So get a kill per turn and stay safe =)
And I never get Blast Padding, always go for the shredding ammo so I won't be forced to use as many grenades against armoured enemies (even more important now in the DLC with The Lost around)
No, that still isn't omnipotent. What if you get attacked several times in one turn? No guarantee at all for Rangers who get attacked the most. Blast padding on a Ranger would decrease damage, especially from those pesky grenades. And it's even BETTER with the Lost who do weak swarm attacks, as that armor point gets more effective against multiple numerous attacks as well.
I meant for my Grenadiers I always go for the Shredding.
Soldiers.
Havent really had much of any luck with random abilities.
T3 templar weapons seem to stun/disorient enemies too. My templar is just running around shutting down heavy mechs and sectopods now.
