Chosen Assassin is ridiculous
OK, I simply don't see what I'm supposed to be doing about the Assassin. I don't know if this is how it's supposed to work, but I ran into her almost immediately, well before I've managed to get my squad size up or get any gear of note. She appears from outside grenade range and gets shields if I miss her, then runs in a ridiculous distance, has half a soldiers HP in one blow, stealths, and moves out of spotting range again- and she's immune to Overwatch. Sure, if she's stupid enough to stop in range, as she did in the intro mission, you can get her with a grenade but 'hope the enemy is an imbecile' is not a strategy.

Am I missing something, because right now this is as much fun as lemon juice aftershave?

If your spread out a little bit so that she can't really approach too well, she can be revealed if an enemy gets within like 6 tiles of her. This INCLUDES lost which is hilarious when you throw a sonic lure on where she is and the lost surround her and maul her to death.

Also use those weaknesses. Mine has Weakness to explosives and reapers, so my reaper's claymore does 22 damage and doesn't reveal them so I often get a followup shot. Also Mox is great at chasing her if she decides to smack someone with her blade.

Her damage is very low too. A few ranks and t2 armor and she can't kill you very easily at all. Once you get t3 armor, she can really only abduct you which is super hard for her to do, esp if you have revive protocol.

You can also kil her mobility by using a gas, acid, and flashbang grenade on her, forcing her to shoot or use her wave move.

Firaxis is very poor at pacing as always. I am having an issue too because they show up much too early. Its only the 4th mission and still in the very first month. Only rookies and squaddies still. Can't even get to her and if they do manage to get a line of sight their aim is never more than 30% on her.

Explosives. Blow away her cover and laugh since she sits there until its her turn, then she does ONE thing and runs off to find mroe cover. And while she is on the map, all other pods are frozen (minus lost), and mission timers don't tick down.

If you're talking about the first encounter, saw on youtube Angry Joe injure her using a claymore from a Reaper which someone else shot, she ran away immediately. Just use one of your members you lleast like to draw her out or move them into a spot they can see her.

Two can play this game.:steammocking: They may or may not cheat. As no one offers real evidence beyond opinions, I believe them as much as I believe in D&D gods being real.

Fair enough^^

Still, you can't prove it, but you can have empirical evidence. Either they are the luckiest people on earth and should just fill out a lotto ticket instead of working their ass off for their youtube/twitch channels, or they cheat.

Yes, you can flip a coin 50 times and have it always lend on the same side, but the chance is almost 0.

Besides, one would be a wasteful fool not to believe in and follow Heironeous.

Have you tried that? Since she's immune to flashbangs, and her mobility stat is pretty extreme.

AFAIK, all three Chosen are immune to most debuffs. I haven't had the chance to try frost bombs on them yet, or DoT ammo/grenades.

I've beaten 2 chosen so far, the assassin and the dark lance twice, first time I ran into the assassin she was a pain, she almost took out mox, but she stopped nearby after missing with that stunning wave attack, she has a weakness of taking extra damage and being stunned i think if she took 3 attacks in 1 turn, so i just had my entire squad open fire on her and she died lol

Try scanners if you haven't. Flanking/Damaging/Revealing her using a scanner will break her stealth.

I break statistics throwing dice. I'd ruin you in Las Vegas faster than light. That doesn't mean I'm so unlucky in everything I do. Only in table roleplaying. XD

Some youtubers surely cheat as surely do some in twitch. But not everybody cheats and luck is a real factor too. I have pulled some serious victories in EW and in this game thanks to luck (and silly AI) alone. So while I'm fine with people having their doubts about the legitimacy of some playthroughs, I prefer the innocent until proven guilty approach. :)

Frost Grenades do work, altho its not as effective as it is on other mobs. Poison works as well, dont think burning does but not sure. Havent had acid to test yet.

That said its kind of pointless to try and debuff her since she won't miss her melee attack regardless.

Fire does work. At least I had the Assassin burning in one city mission because of some collateral fires.

Good to hear frost is still useful - even more so that DoT effects work. Given the Assassin's really annoying hit-and-run tactics, I think some dragon rounds might come in handy.

Ok, so there is kinda a way to deal with her very effectively:

1. You need a Reaper with the detonation ability (remote detonation, 2x radius, 2x damage).
2. Take out something with it, so that your squad remains concealed and the Assassin spawns in.
3. She will stay in one spot, spamming her invisibility
4. Walk up to her and ambush her sorry ass.

This way you can avoid her ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥-strike ability.
