XCOM 2
Can you get a templar as the first faction soldier?
In all the steams i have seen the first faction mission has been with skirmisher and reapers.
Is it always like that or can you get it with templars too?

The Lost and Abandoned mission is always with Elena and Mox, the representatives of the Reapers and the Skirmishers, respectively. It will always be with the Reapers and Skirmishers judging by the current information on hand. So if this mission is enabled, you cannot get a Templar as your first faction hero, because Elena will join.

Since all the streams I've seen so far enable this mission, I can't really say what happens if the mission is disabled. Lost and Abandoned sets it up so that you start with the Reapers contacted, the Skirmishers following suit upon the rescue of Mox, and the Templars need to be found through Covert Actions. This last part, the fact that the Templars need to be found through a Covert Action, hints to me that should Lost and Abandoned be disabled, it might be possible to contact the Templars first before the other factions. This would lead into getting a Templar as the first hero.

Thanks.
I believe that if you start with Lost and Abandoned disabled, you'll start the game with a random faction HQ already contacted and that soldier in your roster. It's random by default, but there's Second Wave options that allow you to choose when faction you start with.

Basically this, but it's quite very solid information.
Advanced options very unambiguously state that there is a choice of starting faction, and devs on a stream also quite unambiguously stated starting faction is random otherwise if "lost and abandoned" mission is disabled.

yes i think if you go in to advance settings you can select what faction you can start with and you can get a soldier from that starting faction you select in the andavce setting

The DLC was in production a 3/4 or a fully year. Firaxis and LW-Studio are not so stupid to torpedo her produced Story in the DLC for that. That DLC-Part will be hardcoded and not chanceable like the orignal Storypart.

In all Information we can get and see, we have to find the Templars like we build up our PSI-Soldiers in the Main Story of XCom and XCom 2. If you wanna have Templars, you have to play the Storypart and find them.

In all XCom Games you are underpowerd to the middle of the Game, at that time we will get a balance to the enemys and at the end we have the power to beat them. That concept won´t change and that´s good so.
