How to get past the butcher

Not sure if im glitched but the first butcher guy wont let me pass. Ive seen youtube etc but it doesnt work for me, i stealth over holding ctrl but the second i pick up the key the butcher turn around roars and 360 MLG no scopes me/bum rushes me even though i did nothing wrong. No time to open the door like the youtube vids i jsut get the same cut scene of my character dying like a ♥♥♥♥♥ rather than say.... doing something useful or less whimpy


What going on why is he auto detecting me regardless of stealth?? Ive tried casual and its the same issue

The trick is to start moving towards the key as soon as the butcher BEGINS moving away. Then you should be able to stealth over there, grab the key and get back out.

Try timing, sneak in and stay back 4 feet or so, soon as he starts lumbering off move in get the keys and get out, you don't need to sneak back out, once he's in that back room, stand and get back to cover. then you can unlock that door and leave.

Thanks for the support. Ill give it another go i just got a bit fed up. i think me picking up the key maybe canceling out the sneak mechanic of me holding ctrl. i dunno just seems to be buggy for me. Picking up the key just kept triggering his detection...

My first time through that part was incredibly frustrating. Once you make it through that though, you are golden. I can't think of another moment in the entire game that is so heavily based on stealth and instant failure.

Oddly enough, I never had trouble with the part on any further playthroughs.

He is talking about the part where you first pick up the key, which shouldn't offer any trouble. It sounds like a glitch.

Perhaps set it so you don't have to hold the crouch button instead having it as a toggle.

My best friend just got this game, I told him if he could stealth kill the butcher in this area he would get the chainsaw, 30+ attempts and he calls me to ask what he's doing wrong, friggin girlfriend said only thing he did wrong was believe me, Lol.

I've seen this, it takes him like 15 minutes and he only gets 5000 gel for it. That same guy beat a bunch of bosses on akumu unarmed, he made it look easy.

I don't even hold the sneak button for this bit and I manage to get the key so I don't think it's to do with that.

I don't think this can be done where you 1st meet him though, where you get to play show & tell with his meat cleaver.

Nah they did it at the part when he chases you with the chainsaw and you're supposed to sneak past him but instead the player stealth killed him over and over. It looked like it was necessary to have enough room and a door to hide behind so you're probably right.

I DID get him with the knife in the village though, for the Knife beats chainsaw acheivement.

So did I but I kinda cheated with flash grenades because I'm too lazy and doing it properly was showing me loads of brand new to me death scenes for hiding from the chainsaw guy. The guy I'm talking about does it in chapter 1 when he's still is forced to limp about, which isn't something I thought would be possible.
