Joseph Oda (spoilers)
So, he's dead now, right?

After implying he lived througout the main game, and even the dlc chapters, they kiled him off unceremoniously in the last dlc.

I fee like it was a kind of hollow thing, and rather pointless after leaving all those little hints, especially with him having some of the only decent character development besides Ruvik.

Only thing I could think of was him being blanked to be a completely mouldable agent of MOBIUS, but that seems unlikely now.

What a waste.

Any thoughts on this for you guys?

For me yes, He was killed by mistake by Kidman, and died there, when you look in the rooms of the "subjects" on the DLC The Executioner, there is also Joseph Oda but is not breathing, then figure out who died in the scene when Kidman and shoots him then his body is in the tub STEM, but continues to "live" in STEM.

And honestly speaking I'm happy, Joseph Oda in the game does absolutely nothing, in Chapter 6 instead to offer coverage (not the area of bombs) when you have to kill zombies on the turrets, Joseph does not kill the zombies that come ..... a real idiot.

I agree with the sentiment, OP, but I actually think there might be reason to believe that "the detective" encountered in "The Executioner" was actually not Oda.

I agree with this, it's possible the Joseph in the Executioner is a mere STEM memory of his experience in the machine and not the real person. It seems pointless to reveal he lives in the consequence just to kill him off in a more throwaway DLC.

He also takes longer to open those door on Akumu mode than the govt takes to research alternatives to gas for cars.

That's what I'm saying. I would like to think it's something like that, but I wouldn't rule it out. Why leave all those clues just to uncermoniuosly tie it up that way.

Though, now that you folks mention it, weren't some of the dominant personalities in the STEM no longer attached to a conciousness?

I saw, but I felt it'd be better to single it out so it could be discussed in detail.

I like this theory and it makes sense. Since The Executioner takes place after the main game (The Ruvik incident) and we know that Mobius can connect people to STEM and take on a different physical form it's possible Mobius can extract monster "templates" and use them as necessary. It's seems a bit arbitrary at this point regarding who lives and dies in STEM. The final file says that death of the father in STEM has been confirmed but his brain death has not occured yet. This gives the possibility that Joseph is alive even after being killed once or twice in STEM already. But how would a death in STEM and being extracted in the real world affect someone? Unfortunately we're not going to find out until TEW 2. It did seem like a waste to confirm Joseph as alive just to kill him again.
