Worth buying ?
I enjoy horror games with decent stories such as re7-2-3, is the PC port any good ?
Or is it just a jumpscare simulator

The evil within is not really a scary game and the story is a bit convoluted. But I still think it's worth a run. Expect to play a game similar to resident evil 4.

Lol. Then, expect something similar to resident evil 2 remake, although worse.

Pc port is meh, I guess it's a hit or miss. Story is much better than the games you mentioned. As for the horror, it's not the same kind of horror. I think - for exemple there is no jumpscares, it's all about the tension and atmosphere. Tension in this game is really high the first time you play, it really keeps you on your toes. It's like the Mr.X section of RE2 but constantly.

If unsure, one can always watch a playthrough, I'd recomend Anna from 8 Bytes or Gab Smolders. Anna is a trip and I watched her entire playthrough, more entertaining than most of whats on TV these days.

the graphics look so bad on RE4 I just can't bring myself to buy it even for 5$

WELL you are missing a lot if you never played re 4 , re4remake not gonna came anytime soon ,resident evil 4 is a masterpeice and they know that people are gonna be really angry if they massacre re4remake like they did with re3remake(cut half the content and stage all nemesis counters) resident rvil 2 remake from other hard is great

IMO it is worth buying. If it's on sales it's a good purchase. I played it for the first time during vacation just this month and I thought it withstood the test of time. I read something about RE 4, and yeah, you're missing out if you haven't played it, but it isn't as relevant today as it was then. If you're craving a survival horror game then this should do it... Unless you don't own Dead Space... Then get that instead xD That or Alien Isolation.

It's working fine for me. 1440p @ 60 fps, from a functionality standpoint. The game doesn't seem to want to scale to full screen correctly when I switch it to 4k, though. Otherwise it's fine and I'm not noticing any screen tearing or FPS drops. Controller support is solid. Feels like a console title with much better graphics.

Gameplay-wise, I'm not really sold on it. The game starts off with an insta-death stealth section, which isn't really a gameplay mechanic I'm fond of, but that's just my opinion. Being instantly killed 4 times in 20 minutes because the NPC happened to turn around just as I was passing by really doesn't do much to keep the tension up, imo. It certainly raises the annoyance level, though. YMMV.

If your zoomer brain can't handle ps2 era graphics then download the hd project mod, doesn't COMPLETELY change how it looks but definitely better.

Evil Within is like a combination of Resident Evil and Silent Hill, that certainly puts it in "scary" territory

I do think the evil within is scary, but scary as in grotesque. It doesnt really compare to silent hill´s disturbing atmosphere. Imo, the evil within is more akin to an action game with some horror elements, much like resident evil.
