First off, the sniper rifle only need be used on the arrow slinging enemies. You can use it on the key statue of course too, but that is totally optional.
Second, the explosive bolts do quite a bit of damage to the chainsaw boss, as does pistol shooting the exploding barrel when he's near it.
Thirdly, it makes no sense to use a scoped weapon like the sniper when you're fighting a boss in close quarters that's constantly running at you.
There's also 3 or 4 harpoons laying around, so you can use harpoons without losing any. There's also always at least 2 places to get shotgun ammo in that area.
Finally, the amount of damage dealt always depends on where you place the shots, and whether you've upgraded that weapon or bolt. Explosive bolts even without an upgrade are powerful if you know how to use them.
Chapter 6 is one of the toughest, especially the first play through, but that part, the 2nd half, is easier than the burning house by far. You can use a lot of sneak kills, you have Joseph with his axe, whom is very helpful if you know how to use him, and you can utilize the checkpoints to make the enemies and mine disarming much easier.
more than enough ammo too
And in chapter 6 there are 5 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ boss battles.
watch walkthroughs of the chapter. people have been able to beat the game on the hardest mode. just practice and remember, you dont have to kill everything you see.
