Game is perpetually impossible by chapter 6, needs major revamping.
This game becomes bordering the impossible by nearing the end of chapter 6, and here is why. Resources are scarce, you find the sniper in chapter 6, but by the end of the chapter (the haunted dog boss fight) I only have one bullet for the sniper, as you are forces to use the sniper bullets early on to kill the haunted on the turrets, and there is only 1 more drop of sniper ammo in the entire chapter, the sniper can not be used.

Furthermore the pistol, (the only gun which ammo shows up for) does negligible damage on bosses, so is not viable to use on them. The agony crossbow does not deal damage, freeze bolts, flash bolts, do no damage, and harpoon and explosive bolts like the pistol deal minimal damage to bosses. The shotgun is the only gun viable against bosses, sicne it drops 2 or 3 times throughout chapter 6 but it takes roughly 10 shots to kill a boss with it, and this is why the game specifically chapter 6 is impossible, there are 5 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ BOSSES IN ONE CHAPTER.

This is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ridiculous, I have to kill the chainsaw wielder using multiple shotgun shells and sniper rifle ammunition, meaning I am now out of sniper ammo for the entire chapter, even I conserve sniper ammo, I am forced to use all my damage dealing bolts to that end. After I beat the boss, there is not a single box of ammo in the upcoming area to facilitate the massive resource drain by the first boss. However this can be handles presuming there are no more bosses in the chapter. However after not long there is another boss, which requires MASSIVE shotgun ammo to take down, roughly 6 or 7 shots. Furthermore there are now also no explosive barrels to help with the resource drain. Then after defeating this boss another carbon copy of that same boss appears, requiring you to use all of your remaining shotgun ammo. And with these 2 bosses, after they are downed you need to use roughly 6 magnum shots each to finish them or else they get up and force you to repeat the fight with shotgun ammo you no longer have. You are now in a position where you are low on magnum ammo, out of sniper ammo (or have 1-2 bullets) and low or out of shotgun ammo. Furthermore there are no more shotgun or sniper ammo drops in the chapter. Then you get to the haunted dog section, a very difficult boss which can tank 10-15 shotgun shells but at this point I have only 3 shotgun shells, nowhere near enough to take them down, even with the one sniper shot I have to use. But based on outside sources, after you kill this dog (which is almost impossible) there is another copy which you have to kill again. WHAT THE ♥♥♥♥. The biggest problem is after defeating a boss there are no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bullets the game gives you to compensate for this.

And even if there is a prodigious way to get through this, once chaoter 7 is reached, the player is out of ammo in its entirety besides the pistol. Meaning they are in a perpetual failstate and forced to restart the entire game.

I use the Agony crossbow and shotty to deal with Leatherface, I mean chainsaw dude. There should be some sniper ammo laying around, save that for the tower dudes. Also on your right are two doors, on the left is a switch that allows these doors to be opened, trick is you can only open one or the other and one has extra enemies to fight, the other has free loot. I'll give you a hint, the majrority of people are certain handed, pick the OPPOSITE door for the loot.

Too late I picked the left door, and for me I am on chapter 7 now and only found one box of sniper ammo throughout all of chapter 6, while this is anecdotal since there is a fair amount of random chance in the game's resource loot algorithm, it should be paid mind to. While I got to chapter 7, the bosses drained my shotgun and sniper ammo, meaning the next boss fight is guaranteed loss, meaning I would have to restart the entire game, since the agony crossbow and magnum are absolutely meaningless on bosses, 25 shots from the magnum would not kill a boss. And I was not by any means wasting ammo, I allowed Joseph Oda to kill everyone and did not fire a single shot besides the turret haunted and the boss fight.

I call BS on most of the first half of your post, which is why I didn't bother reading the 2nd half.

First off, the sniper rifle only need be used on the arrow slinging enemies. You can use it on the key statue of course too, but that is totally optional.

Second, the explosive bolts do quite a bit of damage to the chainsaw boss, as does pistol shooting the exploding barrel when he's near it.

Thirdly, it makes no sense to use a scoped weapon like the sniper when you're fighting a boss in close quarters that's constantly running at you.

There's also 3 or 4 harpoons laying around, so you can use harpoons without losing any. There's also always at least 2 places to get shotgun ammo in that area.

Finally, the amount of damage dealt always depends on where you place the shots, and whether you've upgraded that weapon or bolt. Explosive bolts even without an upgrade are powerful if you know how to use them.

Chapter 6 is one of the toughest, especially the first play through, but that part, the 2nd half, is easier than the burning house by far. You can use a lot of sneak kills, you have Joseph with his axe, whom is very helpful if you know how to use him, and you can utilize the checkpoints to make the enemies and mine disarming much easier.

I believe an upgraded 120% shotgun with 8 shots to the head and 2 explosive bolts do the trick. Use a freeze bolt to get accurate shots on his head.

wait for chapter 10. there is the real nightmare. I am stuck for two weeks on it, having died unlimited times on the final boss of it...

I did not find anything resembling 'more than enough' ammo on my playthrough on survival difficulty, mark that up to the fact that ammo spawns are randoly generated, terrible design as many including myself fidn nowhere near enough ammunition. And the boss battles are vacuums for your ammuntion, and the problem is the game doesnt give you any extra ammo to compensate after the boss battles making you take a huge loss.

And in chapter 6 there are 5 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ boss battles.

watch walkthroughs of the chapter. people have been able to beat the game on the hardest mode. just practice and remember, you dont have to kill everything you see.
