UPDATE! Partial UI FIX FOR STEAM DECK, 1080p/1440p/4k resolution!!

https://greatondeck.net/metaphor-refantazio-taa-mod-antialiasing-fix-for-pc-and-steam-deck/

In the video you will find the game in 4K with 100/125%/150% scaling on RTX 4080 (150% is overkill) and with MetaphorFix mod - draw distance at extra 25%, blur and outlines disabled. Due to the fact that it is not a native implementation menu has a slight ghosting, the performance hit is about an additional 10-15% (at least in my case).

Tell me what you think.

If ghosting will be untolerable - try other mod linked on greatondeck.net. It's much less effective in motion (still better then nothing), but performance is better and ghosting is minimal.

Have been bumping my resolution on deck to 1600x1000 and it looks amazing. Which preset should I be using in that case. Still the steam deck preset? Would love to try the 1.5 mod with the higher resolution.

Tested the new 1.5 vs 1.4.

1.5 has a bit less ghosting, but abit more aliasing. Performance cost is slightly increased. One area of major improvement is the ghosting from MC. Its significantly less flickery now.

1.4 has less aliasing, but a bit more ghosting. Performance cost is less.

Both versions have similar levels of sharpness [despite the CaS values on 1.5 being lowered, probably due to changes in TAA values]

My personal favorite tweak is to use v1.5, disable both CAS+GuassianBlur. This retains vanilla look w/o oversharpen artifacts. v1.4 on the other hand had more ghost/blur so it needed CaS, 1.5 does not. Additionally, this will lower frametime cost from ~4ms to ~3ms. This is usually the difference of 2-3 more frames.

My testing is done on native 4k display. Lower resolutions suffer more from TAA's blurring effects and the CaS may still be necessary.

Edit:
I've additionally tested the Nexus Mod Sildur's TAA. That one defaults to SMAA, which is insufficient imo. FXAA at 0.500 is much better. Overall the image ghosts the least, but doesn't fight aliasing as effectively as 1.5. Sildur's probably has better HUD handling, though the UI masks from Hadxmen's V1.5 are solid enough as it is.

I put the second version of the fix. It doesn't work on Linux. I set the launch parameter, but nothing.

Use Steam Deck version first, next replace all files with normal one.

Hi, I've tried your mod and it really eliminates a lot of shimmer.
Alltough I'll not use it as the Motion vector plugin really destroys the IQ for me personally, I wanted to ask you if you've ever tried Reshade with the Addon "Effect Toggler"?

Appearently you can forse Reshade on applaying your effects before the UI is rendered. A good Video explaining this can be found here:

I've tried it as I'm using personally some MXAO and other stuff and it would be nice to render that stuff before UI but the UI seems to be located at pixelshader location 0x3b4966d7 but if I use that the Camera spins and the Game crashes to desktop.

I'll try a bit more but maybe you can also give it a shot. :)

browse through the thread; this was mentioned (and tried) by a few, including OP. No one seems to be able to solve the crashing, unless I missed something

Sorry didn't saw it.
Okay thanks for the information.

This is sooo sad though!

ATLUS is just a poor indie developer, you can't expect them to incorporate something as complicated as anti-aliasing into this.

What are you going to demand next, full path tracing? Not every game can look like Cyberpunk.
Funnily enough they moved to Unreal Engine with P3R so they can now in future games (not path traced but ray-tracing is in P3R already and with proper anti aliasing, they can go full path traced if they want to since UE5 supports that as shown in the Nvidia branch of the UE5 repo).

It's also rubbish and barely makes any difference. Sorry.

Nevermind, it sucks... I am keeping the mod + in-game SMAA.

Agree.

Is there a difference between the mod from greatondeck and the one on nexusmods? Are they two different authors?

Yes. On Nexus, I'm seeing a SMAA mod under a different author - you can see that the poster here and the Nexus mod author have different names, and the Nexus page makes no reference to the mod here.

From what I've read and seen, the Nexus mod seems to be inferior to the TAA mod linked here, but your mileage may vary.
