Demo won't even start?

I was really excited to try the demo out, but I can't even get it to start. I double-click, it shows the "loading" or "loading executable" messages, and... that's it. I've even tried opening it from the Steam app and still nothing! I'm including a link to a screen recording because otherwise it's really hard for me to describe my problem. I can't seem to find anyone else online having this same issue, so if anyone has any ideas, feel free to chime in. :')

Before anyone asks: yes, I have the minimum requirements to run it. I can open and play another game just fine, but this one just seems to be uncooperative. I made sure there weren't any other apps or programs interfering.

(Sorry, I'm new to Steam, so please let me know if I messed something up!)

Could try verifying game files.
Right click in Steam Library > Properties > Installed Files

Tried that multiple times and everything checked out fine, but it still wouldn't start.
Uninstalled/reinstalled the demo, uninstalled/reinstalled Steam, and yet... Oh well. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Well, I'd hoped the patch would fix my problem, buuuut it didn't. I've verified game files, uninstalled/reinstalled, even turned off Windows Defender. Still can't get it to open. 😒 If anyone has any other suggestions...
