Seemed fantasy-ish.
Then for my second Luck/crit chance build focused one I named him Critaniel which I quite like too lol.
After an hour I switched to English which made the game use default names, "You" for the player, and "Will" for the character.
Dunno where some supposedly got the idea of "Rene" being canon, because the game said otherwise :P
For anyone that does want to name the protagonist his canonical name, you should be aware that his name in the upcoming manga might not be canon. Neither Persona 3, Persona 4, nor Persona 5 kept the name used for the protagonist in their respective manga. Instead, the protagonists were given completely different names in their respective anime and made those names canon from then on.
So, if you have a preference for naming a character their canonical name and want to do that in Metaphor Re:Fantazio, it wouldn't be a bad choice to go with the default name the game sets for the protagonist when switching between languages.
