I wonder about this as well, looks like there may be some hub design going on here. Older point and click adventures have the player go around a bit and explore as well.

It's going to be a combination of both - I do hope they reveal more epic set-piece scenes later!

Mika, I suggest you come again with the question a few weeks after the game is on pruchase. For now, no one knows for sure. Based on the former games of the franchise it could be more linear than "open world". But times evolve so this game could be much more open world than any other of the former games (yet do not expect a type of open world system type of The elder Scrolls - to name just one)

This was De Alverman - and WHOOSH - the world has turned

Its both. Some area are more linear others more open.
From that Cringy trailer it looks to be on rails game just full of cutscenes and probably less than 10 hours long :lunar2019crylaughingpig:

I'd like to know too.
I was expecting for maybe 15 minutes of uninterrupted continuous actual gameplay footage, but all I could find were small clips combining together that don't tell you much about the game.

Like I said, it's both.

the vatican will be more linear and egypt more open world.

it's the biggest machinegames project.

But even the more linear will have place to explore and come back.
