Great Reviews Low Sales
Just as subject said. The reviews on this game are glowing. The player base never surpassed 12,500 players. Why?

Because it's a single-player adventure game.
Because many played it on console.
Because it was available on XBox Gamepass.

Seems to be the common response. There are other games that are in similar situations. However, more people have purchased and play those on launch and have higher player counts within similar release this game.
Also, a lot of people are convinced that it’s woke (it’s not) and have avoided it.
And after 2 lacklustre films the IP is not as desirable as it once was.

There are other games on Game Pass that have had higher player counts at release and have maintained a player base higher than this game. I'm going to buy this game. I'm an Indie fan. With gamers starved for good games right now, the industry is a mess, I'm surprised more aren't playing.

For example S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 has worst reviews, is on Game Pass. Had higher player count on release and higher player count today.

You know that's huge, right?

Also, I forgot to mention high technical requirements. Not everyone even has a PC capable of running this game.

Yeah, but it’s also on Xbox Series X|S, Game Pass, and Cloud.☁️

You're going to have to explain that one to me. I could not have guessed anyone would accuse the game of "woke". But that is how I usually feel about things that people use the W word for. An entertainment product has to be very blatant in its virtue signalling untl I think of it as "woke". Has to reference things happening in real life modern news, or do something weird with diversity. I understand that the real world as we know it is racially diverse today, but that was before we became a globalized society which was the result of captialism making countries trade with each other and the affordability and ease of international travel. If a fantasy story is racially diverse without some type of world building I can relate to, I roll my eyes and call it woke.

I would point out this as the main reason. Indiana Jones is not a "widely beloved franchise", and for some time now. This game should have come out fifteen years ago.

Best as I can tell it stems from two different things.

1. Sweet Baby consulted on this game. Any game with Sweet Baby Inc involvement is assumed to be horribly woke because there is some precedent for that.

2. The promo vid when we saw some developers talk about the game before it came out.
Some of those people looked erm… ‘unorthodox’? Some gamers unfairly judged the game by the appearance of some of the people talking about the game they were working on.

Yeah, if you’re under 30 years of age, all you’ve known of Indy is old man Ford and lacklustre sequels. Most young people won’t necessarily have even seen the original trilogy and after seeing the last two movies probably wouldn’t have any interest in doing so.
It's woke, Gina is in it. Only those who support woke will say it isn't woke.
