Analog stick actions (up+down) doing dpad stuff

I was playing fine and the controls were working, but now when I hit up on the analog stick it brings up the camera (supposed to be up on the dpad) every time I try to move forward and every time I hit down on the left analog it switches my hand to a food item. This is making it very hard to play. I have a xbox wireless controller hooked up via MS wireless adapter.

I am also having the same issue with a Logitech controller on my PC. don't know why it happened haven't checked other games yet if it is happening with them either. regardless it's very frustrating essentially the dpad and the left thumb stick have switched with each other. any help fixing this would be nice. not sure what triggered it. I was holding something then switched to my bag then I opened my map... maybe that had something to do with it

also I just realized this is preventative because we can't use the thumbstick buttons L3 which means we can't run or swim fast... if there's any part of the games that require it I will be stuck. also for some reason it has changed back to regular controls. this is frustrating not knowing what will trigger the switch. probably worth a fix

I was playing the game on the game pass version, I found out exiting the steam client while playing a non steam game does fix the issue.

Thank you! I never would have thought of this - and it solved the issue immediately (didn't even need to quit the game). I was going crazy with constant popups. Really appreciate the great advice.
