Update 12/10:

This post includes a potential fix, please report if this worked for you:

FIXED IT!

All i did was update both dlss and dlssg .dll's. used nvidia profile inspector and did the following : forced V-Sync ON, Re-bar ON and changed shader cache from "4gb" to "10gb."

All settings are fully maxed, DLSS: Quality, Frame Gen: ON. Capped my FPS to 100fps. 4k settings also!

Works flawlessly and high frame rate.

Original post:
I have played since the 6th December. At the highest settings with DLSS on quality. After the update, the game won't start after the intro logos. I get a black screen. If I wait here 5 -10 minutes, the game starts in the menu. I can start the game, then get with my 4090 but only 1 fps. What happened, what am I doing wrong? Do any of you have that problem too?

turn framegen off and on

there's no framegen? but the black screen will go away if you wait long enough and the game resumes. For me it takes less than 60 seconds on a 5950x / 4090 / 32 gigs on a 4th gen nvme. Still not ideal.

I just now tried it, that didn't work for me.

It seems, every time the game has to load an area it drops to 1 fps for a long time.

Yes, if I wait long enough the menu does boot. From there getting into the game, loading the save, also works. As soon as I walk a couple of steps, it drops down to 1fps.

Ugh it really seems to be the update. Didn't find a workaround yet.
I even disabled all overlays from Xbox, NVIDIA and steam.

I guess we'll have to wait for a fix.. this is a shame

Things I tried:

- lower texture details step by step
- turn frame generation on and off, during gamesession and with restarts
- turn pathtracing on and step by step off, during game session and with restarts
- turn dlss on and off, tried every setting
(pinned workaround from dev's)
- reduce resolution
- turn off game overlays
- stop undervolting graphics card
- turn hdr on and off
- try vsync and framelock to 60/90/120hz

I only tested graphics settings that I would play with. Testing anything else doesn't make sense to me because I'd rather not play it on low or medium settings.

Update:

I transferred the game to my NVME wdblackSN750. The black screen now disappears way faster!

Regarding the stuttering issues I now saw the pinned post from dev:

While fps are down to 1fps
-> go into settings turn off dlss, use native TAA ( I left frame gen turned on )
-> go back into game
-> go back into settings and turn dlss back on

Game runs smooth until a new area loads
-> repeat
Update 2: just a few steps further and the frames drop again. I'd have to turn dlss on and off every few minutes - This is gamebreaking for me.

I hope this will be fixed soon. Also interesting to see the faster nvme helped the black screen issue. It helped, didn't resolve

Having the exact same issues but I didnt have any issues after the update and drivers update until I restarted my pc. Now I get very long black screen, menu, boot into game and the fps drops horribly and freezes moves 1 frame at a time. I have to force close the game most times as it just freezes and I cant open the menu

I have also tried everything

Someone tried to disable nvidia reflex? Might be a workaround..

There is a new version of the DLL for frame gen. just downloaded it and going to replace the old one. i have a 4090. i'll let you guys know if this fixes it. maybe they patched it to work congruently with the new DLL for frame gen but forgot to swap it out in the patch.

I will also try this later and post an update. Thank you!
