How do you lean around corners?

I'm following the instructions in the manual and it doesn't seem to work. I've tried both with the controller and KBM. Anyone get the leaning to work?

Hold right mouse and then Y or C, Z or C

It’s complicated and sometimes you accidentally swing your weapon.

For all the positives, the game has a really crappy control scheme. Its even worse on controller as you need to use the stick buttons to lean which feels terrible.

I noticed that lean only works if you have a weapon equipped, which is just mind-numbing. That, plus the RMB requirement is... *sigh*. Utterly pointless. Why restrict leaning of all things? Typical Bethesda railroading.

I found that you can at least eliminate the hold-RMB requirement by opening the console (tilde) and typing:

bind "q" "_aim _throw _leanleft"
bind "e" "_aim _throw _leanright"

(Obviously substitute your own key assignments in there as required)

Still needs to have a weapon equipped ("_aim" & "_throw" don't activate otherwise), but it's one less layer of sh*t at least.

Yah I discovered that you need to be holding a weapon but I assumed that was a bug, not an intentional requirement?
