I noticed that turning off RT Indirect Illumination more than doubles my fps. I have a 4070ti, I have the Path Tracing on High, DLSS on quality, frame generation on, the normal graphics are all set to Ultra.
Everything is maxed out, and turned on, except for Motion Blur (f*ck motion blur), and RT Indirect Illumination --> literally more than halves the fps
There is no exclusive full screen on DX12 it uses flip model.
exclusive fullscreen literally does not exist anymore
Revert Nvidia drivers back to 566.14 and set Low Latency to ON from Ultra in Nvidia control Panel. Then adjust the DLSS and FrameGen in game and make sure to restart game to take effect. This also fixed the stutters and FPS fluctuation issues.
Edit: the problem seems to be with with DLSS itself. If I turn it off, the game runs at a much higher fps, and even allows me to turn some of the other RT options to full. Once DLSS is off, the game runs much better
Otherwise you either have to use the horrible Windowed Gsync or the DXGI Swapchain, that will have a performance impact.
So no, the game need to support Exclusive Fullscreen, they did the same crap with Wolfenstein Youngblood on GamePass, they learned nothing after all those years.
This isn’t just a dx12 thing but an os thing as well. And yes, vulkan also supports the flip model.
As for this vrr, no, it does not require exclusive fullscreen… you don’t want fullscreen support, you want proper feature support. You are effectively asking for something you don’t need because that setting generally supports the features you do. But those features aren’t tied to exclusive fullscreen.
It's actually called 'Video' (the tab, I mean). It's the topmost option in that tab.
'Picture framing' is a subheader in the 'Video' tab and relates to how letterboxing occurs on ultrawide and other non-standard ratio monitors.
For having VRR on Vulkan you either have to rely on Exclusive Fullscreen or use an interop layer like the DXGI Swapchain, which does take an hit on performances.
yes, vulkan most certainly does support the flip model, not by name, but the concept very much remains the same.
the concept of the flip model is not something exclusive to DirectX
I have XBox Game Pass for PC. It was working for me a week ago and then flipped to windowed and wouldn't go above 1960 x 1080. Honestly can't remember if I was fiddling with settings or not.
Was expecting to see a full screen mode under Video but there was only Windowed and Borderless like others have reported.
There was an update yesterday and I thought I would try again. Selected borderless and it is now back to full screen at max resolution. I don't know if it was the update or not as I don't think I had actually selected borderless before? So either the update fixed it or just selecting borderless.
Hope others have the same result.
