There is a reason for that…

Exclusive fullscreen used to be necessary for priority reasons.

However with dx12 they introduced the flip model which effectively solves this problem.

There is no such thing as exclusive fullscreen with dx12, even though the settings exist by name in some games.

ahhh. ok. thx for the input...
but still, why has the steam version the fullscreen option?
Might be a different build

the fullscreen option is not a feature which is outdated or not needed, f.e. on this game playing on TV the game think it's still ultrawide like on my desktop, though my TV is set to 4k resolution and ingame it's a 16:9 resolutiion (and not mirrored, it's exclusive TV), that happens in many games and the only option which works as it should, is actually to put the game to "Fullscreen"...then the game knows it should fill the whole screen with a 16:9 resolution.

But what you aren’t talking about isn’t “fullscreen” in the sense that we know it. This can also be accomplished with borderless window.

Thats what i was trying to explain, what you know as “fullscreen” isn’t actually fullscreen

but it's how the games handle it, most games i would say. I'm not sure why it is like that, but it is like that. Otherwise i would only have black bars top/bottom which is not fullscreen. I'm sure if my desk-pc would be a 16:9 monitor i could use borderless-window aswell.

It's a DX12 game, it uses flip model not full screen.

I believe that this is the case btw, i am not arguing with your experience.

Im just saying that the fullscreen option isn’t required for this, if devs spent time on it they could have this functionality built in the borderless window mode.

It just helps to know what you should ask for, at least thats what i think. In this case you want the functionality behind the “fullscreen” option rather than an actual fullscreen option, if that makes sense

This game is only Vulkan actually. DX12's Fullscreen mumbo jumbo is completely irrelevant here. This is true Fullscreen goodness. I can see why some people would be annoyed by not having the option. For me Fullscreen shows up just fine along side borderless and windowed, just like good old times lol. Edit: I have a friend with the gamepass version and the Fullscreen option does not show up for them. It does appear to be specific to gamepass anecdotally to me.

This game is Vulkan not DX. Alt enter works in many contexts in many applications.

It doesn’t really matter, seeing that this is an OS thing as well.

The precense of exclusive fullscreen isn’t necessary anymore in this day and age. Outside of the other functionalities bound to that setting of course.

Exclusive fullscreen was essentially a band aid for an issue that has been solved for quite some time now.

Same issue

Borderless vs fullscreen really isn't a huge difference as long as you don't have a lot of programs running.

It is not normal. Windowed mode can only use the resolution that your desktop is set to as a maximum. I run my desktop at 1080p but I want to play the game at 2k. But no matter what resolution I choose in the settings, it is 1080p.

Not normal. I had the Fullscreen option but it suddenly disappeared and Frame Gen stopped working. Even the description for Display Mode says "fullscreen, window or borderless".

There are supposed to be 3 options. Mine had 3 but I've now lost Fullscreen and the game is borked.

i have the gamepass version, i wonder it not being fullscreen and vulkan is the reason im getting bad frame pacing in the game. thought it could be vram due to my 10gb 3080 but i tried the lowest texture setting and 1080p and its still an issue. is no one else noticing bad frame pacing? im sensitive to it and i play with a controller so its extra noticeable
