Are the photos you take with the camera (generally, not for clues etc.) saved anywhere like a folder somewhere? Or am I just taking them for nothing? I get the feeling they are not saved anywhere...

Ah, I can see them in the Steam remote folder but yeah, I can't open them either. Says format not supported even though they are .jpg files. Tried in a couple of different image viewers too. That's a shame :( Thanks for the reply.

Thanks, me too. I've tried Paint.net, paint, windows image viewer, FastStone image viewer (which usually opens EVERYTHING!) and renaming the extension (.png etc.) but nothing. Also, the file size seems a little small (all under 200kb) to be of any decent quality too.

This isn't a feature of the game. No photo mode unfortunately, and the camera item's photos aren't saved for this purpose. If I recall correctly in an interview the devs say the photos that are used in game as items are the actual photos the player took. Such as the inscriptions that you hand to Antonio. So i'm guessing that the photos you are seeing are just the little ones meant to be used as in game items, not viewed outside of the game.

Thanks for the info. I've been taking a lot of photographs since is such a beautiful game with Pathtracing. Came here wondering if they're actually being saved anywhere.

Wait so the photos aren't being saved anywhere or are they? How unfortunate if not.

They need to remedy that and also add a proper screenshot mode with lots of options.

I KNOW!! I did this SO much before I was devastated by the news that I couldn't see my photos. I should have been screenshotting my way through that holiest of cities...

Oh, this makes me very sad to learn... Add me to the list of people playing photo-tourist with apparently no actual saved photos! :steamfacepalm:

I just don't understand when games are being made do the devs not have a guy that's like "Hello yes um, logical question, there's a literal camera in the game the player uses to take pictures. Does it work as a photo mode?"

I'd have asked that question. That would be my literal first question once the camera was mentioned.

That said, there will be a mod by next week if there isn't already. You can use console and use the same commands from the previous idtech games no doubt.

I suspect that it was intended (because how obvious is it for the camera to work as a camera for more than just the planned photos) but it got dropped for release.

It should be easy for them to add a full realized camera feature considering that even for the planned photos it is taking an "actual" photo (when I realized it only worked in specific locales I assumed that they were going to be "pre-made" photos, but they are not. They are actually the photos you take.)

So devs, please fully implement the camera as well as a traditional screenshot mode with lots of features and stickers, text, logos etc. Come on, this is expected fora AAA game of this caliber.

Its shame that such beautiful game doesent have dedicated photo mode.. well, maybe they ll add it later through patch.
Ahhh that's totally a shame. Saving images can cause frame hitches but its SO worth it. Also, it can probably be done async. I really wish the devs enabled that. I wouldve ...
Same here. I was somewhat hoping that I could look at my pictures later on and reminisce. Oh well, never mind.
