Worry not. Indy has to save the damsel a few times and has to be saved a few times. He's fighting broad-stroke bad-people stereotypes. This is par for Raiders and Crusade (the better movies of the cinematic series imo). It is a decent replacement for Temple (if one wishes to replace that fun, little, odd adventure).
There is a lot of "filler" since games are expected to occupy more time than movies, but I was able to complete all the primary content and filler content in 40 hours. (There are in-game trackers that players can have Indy find, purchase, or receive as rewards to show what extra content remains.)

It really is quite literally the only example in the entire game.
