100% CPU...
Hey guys,

Anyone else experiencing really high CPU usage during normal gameplay? Running an I9 13900K with an RTX 4090 at 3440 by 1440.

Cheers.

Nope i got around 50% CPU usage with a Ryzen 5800X and 7900XTX at 3440x1440. Get around 95 FPS average with everything maxed out.

I have the same GPU and same resolution. Will check how it looks on Monday. CPU is Ryzen 5700x3D.

I was seeing odd CPU usage with this game, but not super high. For some reason the Windows firewall service kicked up to about 10% usage when I started playing this game. I reset the firewall settings and it seemed to have solved that issue for me.

Thanks guys for your input. I should have mention that my FPS is good - over 120 maxed out. I wonder if i should up date my ASUS mobo BIOS, it's eight versions behind.

You shouldn't experience that kind of CPU usage in this game as long as your GPU isn't starved for VRAM. Is your BIOS up to date? 13/14 gen intel CPUs have severe problems that cause significant degradation that effectively slowly kills your CPU. In some cases it just reduces performance for a while, but the end is always the same: massive system instability. The good news is that if your CPU is affected, it should be covered by warranty.

I checked Cyberpunk and a couple of other games, and they are fine. But BIOS is out dated.

Edit: Oh, a patch!

I added path tracing, turned on DLSS, and the CPU percentage dropped to between 70-80.

also here with a 5800x and no cpu load more then 50%. but oddly the game stutters every like 10 minutes dropping to 3FPS... i assume the engine is not capable on keeping loading new chunks of the areas smooth. which is quite frankly annoying. but eh. managable.

You can still be CPU limited even with an *average* usage of 50%. All it takes is one thread hitting 100% to cause a CPU bottleneck. For example if you have one thread at 100% and the other 15 at 20% your average will only be 25% despite being bottlenecked because of the thread at 100%.

So, I tried the game today. My rig is 4090, Ryzen 5700x3D, 32GB RAM, 3440*1440.
With full RT and Supreme graphics + DLSS Quality I get 60-80 FPS (FG is OFF) in the starting location.
GPU is used on ~100%, CPU is like 25-30%.
P.S. No periodic stutters or dead FPS drops, like mentioned above.

I am not feeling good with high or medium quailty. The GPU usage drop to 10 or 20% usage for one second and the fps will drop immediately ,which really made a bad experience. My spec 5800x and 4070tis. The fps is ok when running normal. But Idk if the win11 have issue on that.

Same as you when enter a new area, the GPU usage will drop. I am considering replace a new CPU may solve this?
I tried to turn off the frame DLSS Frame Generation, it worked and the fps drop 20-30.

Do not run unrestricted. Use Vsync or, preferably, Limit your FPS to a set value to reduce cpu load. 30, 45, 48, 60, etc. You can use a program like RTSS from the guru3d website or the built in driver limiter, aka AMD Chill, AMD FRTC, Nvidia Max Frame Rate, etc.

Chances are though you have 100% load because some other application is hogging up CPU resources in the background. AV's are typically the applications that will do this kind of thing. If you have an AV installed that is probably why. You don't need an AV as Windows provides one for you and it is fairly competent... As long as you are staying up to date with your Windows Updates.

My 7950X is usually like 20% utilized at most, but it does a pretty good job on spreading the work across all 16 cores surprisingly.
