So I was reading the interview with game director Jens Anderson where she mentions the player is discouraged to use gun violence
..and it doesn't strike me as Indiana Jones persona. The whole exaggerated spectacle surrounding the character is that he's some nerdy scholar historian who happens to know kung fu and chooses violence over books to solve most of his problems.

I mean... would you seriously make a clint eastwood game and punish players for using his gun over a frying pan? It just doesn't make sense.

The literally uses a gun to shoot a guy wielding a sword in the first movie. He constantly uses guns. Another game made by people who don’t know the source material, gee what a shocker
don't like - don't play. Or go cry

I didn't say I didn't like it. I said it doesn't make sense. :steamfacepalm:

Indy is much more of a brawler than a gunslinger. Sure he uses guns in the movies, but mostly after ♥♥♥♥ has already hit the fan.

I'll give them he's a whip-forard guy for sure but he never hesitates to grab a gun and shoot. It feels so weird to hear they purposely programmed the game to discourage this behavior by making choosing a gun extra punishing.

Hitman games in the past punished players for using means outside a true assassins pathos. You could go gun blazing as 47, but you would hurt your odds at upgrading your toolset. Absolution had that system, I don't know about the new hitman's though.

This is not Uncharted or rebooted Tomb Raider for bullet party. Indiana Jones games never had much guns. Infernal Machine (1999), Emperor's Tomb (2003, best Indy game and best combat IMO) and Staff of Kings (2009) focus on puzzles, exploration and melee combat with fists or whip, guns are secondary.

He typically uses guns as a last resort and often times his attempts to use a gun are prevented or stopped and again, that is after he has been "found out." He almost never uses it as an opening move or first option.

I don't agree. He avoids guns when they might hurt valuable objects but has no issues with unloading into meatbags.

Comments like these always make me wonder if they couldn’t comprehend the post or they simply just didn’t even read it.

The game is made in ID tech... The literal PC shooter game engine. What is this logic?

Not that this game is particularly Indiana Joneslike with its gameplay that's mostly babby's first sneaker, but guns are included in exactly the proportion that a nerd like Jones would be using them in. He doesn't just go in and mow everything down, everything has to turn into a slapstick spectacle.

It’s fine if you don’t agree. The movies don’t agree with your assessment of the character.

imagine all the Indy movies where Indy just came in with a machine gun shooting everyone everytime... but sure bring up a 5 second part of the trilogy to try and make a point
