RAY TRACING ***REQUIRED***??? ARE YOU KIDDING ME???
Putting this notice 2 days before release is a JOKE. I'm requesting a refund, it's stupid to force people to have something that is NOT IMPORTANT FOR A GAME to be MANDATORY.

You want to force people to upgrade their setup that runs everything else just fine, forgetting that this planet has like 200 countries and maybe it's "cheap" to upgrade in the US or Europe, but Latin America is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ in that regard.

Thank you Bethesda & Microsoft. You ruined both my day and my dad's. We were extremely looking forward to this game.

If anyone know a way to disable this requirement, please let me know.

Can't wait to try it on my 4090

Yeah no, they dont. 4090 is the only GPU that does it OK-ish. But you're still sacrificing high-refresh. And all the cards below it quickly run out of VRAM. Another Jensen lie that 80%+ of the market fell for.

He's worse than Todd.

It looks like even the RTX 3050 (Nvidia's weakest RTX graphics card) can handle this game fine. The 6GB variant of the RTX 3050 might struggle though.

Edit: the RTX 2060 has more performance than a RTX 3050 but it too might struggle with only 6GB VRAM.

All I see are people who refused to move with the times and are stuck on old hardware and are now crying because the latest engine tech requires a more modern card.

You people stick the metal pole into the wheel of the bike you ride then blame the crash on anyone but yourselves.

Maybe a console is better suited to you instead, they can do 60fps full time in this game with ray tracing. you're moaning that your PCs are not capable of running this game whilst having hardware that is outdone by even the Series S......

Practically speaking, the game needs an Nvidia 2000-series or AMD 6000-series. The 2000s have been around since 2018 and the 6000s since 2020. It's not completely unreasonable that the game requires hardware that's 6 years old or lower. As the developers have explained, raytracing is baked in at engine-level for this one.

I agree that publishing the minimum specs so late was not good. Steam allows refunds, though.

I feel you, but somebody needs to sell their video cards, plus, not saying it is correct but it is what it is with this market in this context. My first video card was MX440 and now i own a 3070 and i changed a lot of video cards over these past years, Nvidia and ATI. Is graphical fidelity important to a game? I don't know, for me, sound, design, story and mechanics are important , the rest i don't care but i still bought them because there were still great games in the years to come. I do admit that the industry has blocked herself from evolving, searching for light fidelity and cinematic experience. It's like turning the average gamer into a plant. A lot of talk and dialogs, nothing is smart anymore with subtext. The brain doesn't need to think, it needs to see and take it as it is.

I'm pretty sure its not required.
Having played last night i was honestly shocked at how NOT demanding the game was compared to other recent releases.

Not sure what engine this is using but it doesn't even push my GPU to above 60% for most the time. I get occasional CPU spikes when i guess its loading some new area in.

I'm playing at 4K, settings on Ultra or whatever its called (there are two quality tiers above that require a restart) All the individual settings are at max.

I use DLSS set to Auto and i lock my FPS to 60 (just something i prefer to do when playing most games at 4K on my current system spec)

Game looks great and runs better than most stuff.

Not sure what the deal with the system requirements is. Maybe they decided to over exaggerate to put people with weaker systems off to avoid launch day backlash when people with older machines or poorly paired components have issues and then flood with negative reviews and compplaints - like i don't even know - but maybe that is a marketing thing?

But honestly. The game is very well optimised and runs incredibly well and from what i can tell there isn't any specific raytracing features. The only thing i can see is the global illumination slider which may or may not be using ray traced GI or Lumen (is it even an Unreal game or ID tech)

TLDR. Runs better than most games released recently and uses way less resources on my machine. Pretty sure Ray Tracing isn't compulsary.

its not required at all, ive spent the afternoon playing it perfectly fine and well with no ray tracing
c0Zm1c 6 Thg12, 2024 @ 9:03am
I'm watching Digital Foundry's video about the Xbox Series X/S version at the moment and if the PC version is the same it looks like the game only uses ray traced global illumination. It doesn't even use ray traced reflections. It's "a locked 60 frames per second" during gameplay on console hardware too (even on Xbox Series S) so it's not very demanding at all it seems, despite the use of ray tracing. Perhaps the PC version has some other RT effects available to it too though?

Sooner or later, you WILL have to upgrade if you want to keep up. That is just the way it is. I built a new PC when The Witcher 3 released, so I could play it at more than 20 FPS. A couple years ago, I bought a new PC to replace THAT aging one, so I could keep up with new releases again.

It is just the way it is, and taking your aggression out on devs for simply following the progression of technology does nothing for you.

The unchecked progression of technology regarding VIDEOGAME GRAPHICS is unnecessary. We don't NEED Ray-Tracing to enjoy a game. We don't NEED 250GB for a game (it's 112GB for this one, without DLC). It's thinking that everythings NEEDS to keep pushing forward again and again and again only to favor... more spending, that hurts the industry as a whole.

And you're ignoring the fact they updated the store page to announce this mandatory requirement 2 DAYS BEFORE RELEASE. Devs & publishers are at fault because they are forcing a novelty like ray-tracing on an engine that is known for it's FLEXIBILITY and OPTIMIZATION capabilities.

They are gatekeeping for the sake of gatekeeping. You defending it is bad for all of us.

And one of the ways to optimize a game is by not having to make compromises so it can run both SSGI and RTGI. Having only RTGI means you can better optimize the game without having to make compromises by adding SSGI too. Doubly true when both consoles also support Ray Tracing now.

Yes the PC version will have more options for Ray Tracing but those won't be available until the 8th. The people who paid extra to get the game 3 days earlier won't have those extra options until the 8th either.

I was thinking more about ray traced reflections, shadows and ambient occlusion (does the game have those as RT options?) but yeah, I know about the upcoming path tracing update.

not true, it has ray traced GI by default and you need an RTX card to play.
Astroooooooo 6 Thg12, 2024 @ 9:33am
wait...it's required? look, I have zero problems with RTX for people that want it, but as an AMD GPU user, this is problematic.
Geist 6 Thg12, 2024 @ 9:45am
That is unfortunate. But even consoles have RT and this is likely a console port. Looks like you will have to stream it with GeForce Now or something until you get better hardware.
