IDTECH 7 DOOM ETHERNAL ENGINE = NO PERFORMANCE PROBLEMS
"and the game does not suffer from any shader compilation or traversal stutters. This is a silky smooth game."
see how 90% of your problems are gone just by ditching UE5. now go ahead and defend UE5 (utter trash engine 5) some more...

Best game engine EVER created is the Snowdrop engine. I've always said it ever since The Division 1 and that Alex dude from Digital Foundry has also praised it. That engine is damn near nobel prize worthy. SADLY it's a Ubisoft in house product which limits the amount of games we'll see using it.

It's a good engine, which is why I'm upset it requires RTX. I can run Doom Eternal maxed out on a 1660 at 144fps.

Supports Vulkan, no performance issues. Imagine that.

Dx12 has been a disaster since it's introduction and it's the only major change in UE5.

Runs as smooth as butter, but for those with not enough VRAM just lower the Texture Pool size, I could barely notice any difference in texture quality between superme and medium, this game doesn't need 12G VRAM at all, it's just a quirk of the id Tech engine.

It does not "require" RTX, it only requires any card that had hardware RT cores, so any modern GPU.

if you have an ancient GPU then that's a you problem.

Hate to be the defender of UE5 but the comparison isn't fair. UE5 needs to be a general purpose engine for various game types. It's available to anyone who wants to develop games with it. The challenges that arise from that are so numerous that you cannot compare it to a closed source and very much none-general purpose engine like IDTech.

Exactly. It's absurd to compare an engine that has been fined tuned to the absolute max by a developer who knows the engine inside out compared to an open sourced engine like UE5. Anyway, Black Myth: Wukong proves that if a developer cares enough they will make it optimized regardless of what engine is used.

It does require RTX. It won't even launch it. Funny, because you completely ignore that my PC can run Doom Eternal maxed out at 144fps. "old card" my ass.

Do you understand what you are talking about?

RTX is not a technology, RTX refers purely to Nvidia's suite of features, in this game that being DLSS upscaling and DLSS frame gen. That is it. The game does NOT require "RTX", the game uses hardware ray tracing, so the only requirement is that a GPU be able to run HW RT. which is why Intel Arc and AMD RX cards can also run it.

Doom Eternal only uses RT reflections and you can toggle it on and off, there is no toggle to turn off RTGI and shadows in Great Circle, hence why HW RT capability is required.

I perfectly understand. They could have very well took a little time to do their job and optimize the game and make a very basic graphical option able to be toggled on and off, so as not to alienate 50% of their potential playerbase.

Everything you have said demonstrates you understand nothing.

I love when consumers argue about engines and technical ♥♥♥♥ they have absolutely no clue about.

This. There's nothing wrong with UE5.
