I can´t reach the pipe jumping with the whip in the sewers. I tried 800 times.

It's nearly or is impossible with a mouse and keyboard, I tried a hundred times, switched to a x box controller and did it in a few tries, you need to swing back and forth and couple of times to get momentum, can't do it with the mouse.

Go for maximum swing.

Look for pipes that have white paint on them. They're climbable and will give you a higher vantage point to use the whip.

I know about the white paint and the swing. I tried with keyboard and dualsense 5 thousands of times, i will try later with the xbox controller...

Indy just doesn´t grab the white pipe, it´s like a bug.

Try swinging back and forth using the left stick on the x box controller moving it left and right to swing harder then jump. If nothing works, there are other ways into this destination.

I am using mouse and controller , at first i couldn't get the pipe either, what i did was grapple the thing in the middle with whip , then i lowered myself down on the whip a little bit to get a longer swing , then he is right up against the pipe when full forward swing.

To the building yes, to this room in particular there is no other way around.

Are you refering to the doors opening from inside once you reach the room? Sorry, but i´m exploring...

you have to choke up on the rope, not down. it's counter intuitive but the detection point for the pipe expects to you to be higher up on the rope, not lower. Finally worked for me. Clearly designed by a g*rl who doesn't understand physics.

After I sent this I immediately found another rope swing in the same cistern which is even more this way: if you go down on the rope or stay where it starts, you will bonk into the chain in the middle of the room. You have to choke up, swing a little bit, and release even though Indy is like twelve feet away and has no momentum. He will teleport to the f*cking ledge lol. Bethesda needs to stop employing communications majors and insta th*ts for level design
