Ray Tracing
Everything I've read says my graphics card supports this game in relation to ray tracing. But when i start the game i get vulkan errors and the game wont load.
I have a geforce gtx 1050 (I know before you say its an older card)
Also I have the latest drivers for my card

the 1050 doesn't have rt support, it has no tensor cores and rt cores, it's not an rtx card and even if it was, it's too underpowered for this game anyway

It supports Vulkan bu doesn't support required ray-tracing extensions

quick update. I've realised my laptop needs to be upgraded. I'm wondering if people could advise as to whether NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 6GB would run this game. seeing mixed reviews

you need at least 8gb vram

No, don't try to use a 6GB card. And if you're going to upgrade, skip right past the 8GB cards, too, or you'll end up having to upgrade rather soon again.

Go for 12-16GB VRAM. You could look into the Intel Battlemage cards (like the B580). Fairly cheap over here - and a steal compared to NVidia, and while it won't run IJGC at anything near max, it's reasonable and most importantly has 12GB of VRAM.
