What is normal about $120 AUD?
That’s roughly 75 usd, 5 dollars over the normal price of a videogame, care to try that again?
At the time of launch it was $80 USD.
Blame your country and your currency, not the game price.
The Australian dollar at time of launch was better. Currency conversion.
But again, blame your country and your currency…. 120 aud has been a normal price for AAA games for quite a while now.
This is because of Australian laws, no need to blame the game price.
Not on Steam it has not.
Usually the standard is $99.99 AUD. Maybe the one or two priced at 109.99 AUD.
Now it's $119.99 AUD.
This all within the last 2 years. And it keeps increasing. And these are the base pricing of the base version of the game. Then count deluxe and ultimate versions. It's getting ridiculous lol.
Yes, its most certainly the standard….
Inflation has been happening for a long time and game prices only caught up recently, have you been living under a rock?
Australia has always been the odd one out, its an expensive country…. Buddy you live there, you should know that.
I have a question for you. Do you only have insults?
If you took offence in that maybe its a sign that you don’t like being called out on basic things…
Inflation and every other argument that favors high prices are just an excuse to increase prices even more and more.
Well i stopped buying full priced games already a couple of years ago. I many people would do the same, prices would drop.
This is actually the point. The prices for new games are not dictated at will by the publishers. There are also many gamers who accept and buy games at this price (me included, btw, see below). So it is our own fault, to some extent, that games have become this expensive.
This being said, as an individual customer on Steam and elsewhere, I only pay this AAA price for a game which I really want to play when it releases. Otherwise I might test it either first on Game Pass (when it is available there) or I wait until it is on a discount. Aside from the Game Pass option there is also always the option to watch someone streaming the game to get an idea whether or not I would like to play it as well. So there are many ways to get info about a game without actually having to buy it. And this significantly neutralises the high AAA prices imo, because one can then pick out only those games which are really worth it due to one's own evaluation.
Side note: there sometimes exist editions of games other than Steam which have some additional advantages and why I sometimes accept a higher price as well. Examples: the game versions on GOG are (mostly) DRM free, which is why I prefer buying a game there when it is available. even when more expensive. And the second example is when it is available on the Xbox store as a Play Anywhere game (like this game, for example). That is something I am looking for as well, because I also play on Xbox, and so I have the option to play it either there or on PC (or even on both devices, because Xbox Play Anywhere supports sharing cloud saves).
