Indiana Jones and the Great Circle

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle

View Stats:
Freezing / unplayable / 4090 / 4K / Hyper Max Full RT / PT
Can't play the game, finished the tutorial (Raiders) area, now in Marshall College's very start, and the game freezes after 1 minute latest.

Reinstalled NVIDIA drivers 566.36, applied also Hotfix 566.45. and tested also the older driver 566.14. All "fresh" installed.

Verified game files two times.

Afterburner closed or running, no difference.
Overlays turned off / on, no difference.

Ultra Low Latency mode in the NVIDIA panel is turned off (globally & game profile specific).

Full 4K / 3840x2160, no Frame Gen
All settings fully maxed out
DLSS quality
Around 90+ FPS in closed environment.
All good it seems, but it just freezes after short period of time (30-60 sec), music / atmo continues, nothing more possible, so I have to hard-close the game via steam.

System is high end:
4090 MSI Suprim X (moderate OC and stock settings tested)
AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D (not OC'ed)
64,0 GB DDR5 6200 CL32 (regular XMP profile applied, no issues in 14 months anywhere)
Win11 24H2 26100.2605

btw: Could you please post a screenshot of the console warning "allocating unmoveable vertex"? I don't get any message before / while freezing, I just can't do anything as soon as it's frozen. Even the console can't be scrolled of closed.

It states nothing special while the freeze happens.
I just have the console open during a long cutscene where it crashes every time

Btw: I never use Frame Gen under any circumstances. Frame Gen (in my opinion) is cancer and just fake frame rendering with high lag addition, bringing only an artificial feeling of smooth gameplay.

I highly suggest turning that off.

I agree with you on frame gen, looks like crap. If I have to resort to that with a 4090 then the game is garbage to me. I know you've already heard this but rolling back my driver fixed the issues I was experiencing but I never experienced any freezing problems with either driver.

I managed to take a photo via Mobile as I can’t even do a screenshot within Steam as soon as the game freezes, although the PC is not frozen itself.

I got the same warning message as the user @friBBB right above my post.

There’s definitely sth weird going on here with Vulkan and allocation of assets like the hat Indy is wearing etc.

i managed to get it working with no issues - 4090 - control panel latency off, latest NVIDIA drivers, FG off - notice in journey to stability that 4090 load was at 60% not 99%. Added fix for cut scene - now at 60fps and added Great Circle fix master both on nexus. Now at 4k all settings at max inc DLAA / DLSS but turned Ray T off entirely - no 4090 at 99% and CPU at 30 to 40% - all stable - leave until a fix arrives - average fps 80 to 110

Thx for the info. Could you - only if you like the risk - test if enabled PT (or at least some RT) will affect the stability? I'm suspecting PT to be the cause of the freezing, but as I haven't applyed any mods like you, my game now freezes, no matter the settings.

Decided to try PT and funnily enough I managed to watch a cutscene without freezing. Sure the console is showing 30 lines of warnings, mainly about Indys hat, but it didnt freeze.
Ok it froze 5 min later.

Mine doesn't even freeze now, it just instantly crashes and closes. Like someone pressed the X button to close a window. Could be a minute of gameplay, could be 30. Used to never happen, but now it's every time.

I can't run the game at all, just got the game today. Crashing everytime I'm starting the game. 13900k with 4090.

I have the same problems here. I was really looking forward to being able to play this game on my vacation, but the current state of the game ruins any fun it has.

Guys, try changing the OpenGL rendering GDI compatibility & Vulkan/Opengl present method in Nvidia control panel to force DXGI swapchain.

Jup, same here. Sometimes it lasts 1 minute, sometimesa 3 or so, but nothing changes, it will freeze / crash.

Same with me, but for me it always freezes, also soometimes after seconds, sometimes after 2 minutes or so... but 100% of trys, it will freeze.

I feel that, I also looked forward for holidays, and I can't play one minute. And I got the perfect rig. Shame...

Thx, I tried that, with different combinations, could only switch to DXGI within the Vulkan/Opengl present method, not within OpenGL rendering, but I tried all possible variants.

No change. Game freezes within 1-2 minutes in 100% of trys. And I tried 50+ times within the last 3 days ;)

But it is necessary to reach 30fps in some cases and make the game playable!

I feel it's our responsibility as consumers to purchase more expensive hardware and make use of all the features in order to get the best out of a poorly developed game we don't even truly own. After all, developing games is a real job, playing them isn't. How lazy of us

/s

Nvidia doesn't recommend using FG unless you are getting at least 60 FPS natively. Your true frame times with FG are 1/2 the FPS so if you are showing 30 FPS with FG then your frame latency is like 15 FPS or about 67 ms plus the other latencies in your system you likely have a total system latency in excess of 100 ms. Even though this isn't a "twitch shooter" that kind of latency will make your controls feel really sluggish.
