Stopped playing because of Gina
It's unbelievable to me how annoying they made Gina. I'm solving the fountain in the Vatican and she will not stop talking for a second. I try snapping a picture, she gets right in front of me. She points out the obvious ALL THE TIME. She's also constantly snarky and condescending.

I might jump in again at some point but her being there is going to spoil this entire section of the game and I can only guess she will be there in most of the game.

I'm not sure if this is incompetence, wokeness or what on behalf of Bethesda, but WOW does she bring the entire experience down.

Sigh. It's not wokeness. It's just how companion NPCs are coded in the game. Yes, it's overbearing, but they're all the same. Did you notice how Antonio did the exact same thing at the beginning of the Vatican level? "Indy, try pulling that chain!" "Indy, light that torch!" "Indy, what's that book?" "Indy, there's something over there!"
Wrong, Half life 2 and it's EP 1 & 2 Alyx is a great companion NPC.

It's a trope. She's designed to be the archetypal 80s female sidekick for indy. Not very bright, always getting in the way and constantly pointing out the obvious. It's hardbaked into the franchise.

It actually surprised me because it's the opposite of woke. The devs in.pursuit of an authentic experience wound back the clock to the 80s when women were ditzy and bothersome as their defining character traits. Almost admirable in a way to buck modern trends.

They claimed she IS bright though, at least Indy's ''intellectual equal''. Whatever that means. They make it sound like she is much more than just a sidekick. I dunno about this game, maybe I'll give it a shot.

I pull a lever to open a door

"LOOK, A DOOORRR"

Yes Gina, a door. Very good, how bright you are *pats head*

*Gina stares blankly while drooling*

"Dooooooorrr..."

It's a fun game but she really is a laughably silly and ditzy character in the game regardless of how they THINK they've portrayed her.

Tell me you hate women without telling me you hate women.

The worst I've seen from Gina is some consistently goofy leg animations and occasionally standing in my way in a tight area. Nobody is demanding that you enjoy companion characters. I will say, though, that she's far from the worst I've ever had to put up with in a game. She's not Alyx, but she's not exactly an escort mission, either.

But the game is set in the 1930s.........

Meaning she is the main character ???? That doesn't make sense at all.

Yes but the film franchise that the game is based on is from the 80s. It's a trope of the franchise and its presentation, not the time period.
The franchise is from the 80s but the actors played their 1930s role well in the movies.
The most annoying thing is having Gina NPC in front of you most of the time, no matter what you do the NPC goes in front of you, in fact sometimes I stand facing the wall to see what's going on and Gina's NPC is programmed to pass in front of Indy.... sometimes she keeps walking and other times she turns around and stays there in front of Indy. If I don't leave her room to pass, she just waits and as soon as there's room, there she goes... in front of me... it's really annoying to solve puzzles this way.

This really proves that to some people, woke only means anything they don't like.

They made her AI that way, to show that Indy is following her as a side kick.

She was written to be indys equal hence why they confirmed this

they are just terrible writers hence her stupid programming

Its not how he thinks they portrayed her, they said it themselves. All your defence did was point out how bar they were at writing and programming her AI lol

I’m trying to read a note and Gina keeps prattling on and walking into me, forcing indy to keep move the note out of the way while i’m trying to study it.
