Bug with whip climbing

I was three hours in when I first encountered this bug where I can't climb up the whip at all. The only fix was to start over after I tried other fixes, or so people say. I started a new save and I encounter the same issue in a different location! I searched up online and the issue has been going on for two months and it's still not patched. This is such a game breaking bug because I can't make any progress at all. When will this be fixed?
