Can't progress in the Silver Trial

I don't get the button prompt to insert the second stone tablet so I am locked in the fire room. After grabbing the tablet from Gina, I can go over to the stone pillar and I see the circle to start the button prompt. When I get close enough to actually do it, it disappears. Pushing the button anyway does nothing. Tried going back to a previous chapter which lost me a half hour of gameplay and the problem was still there.

Have you updated the game today?

I updated the game earlier to update#2 and since I have not been able to climb ladders or use the whip to swing or climb ledges.

Something broke in the update.

I am rolling back to previous version (the convoluted steamDB method) so will see if it works.

I did the update today which I hoped would fix it, but no such luck. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game a few days ago, which did nothing. I thought my only hope was an update, so I got excited when I saw there was one today. I've now gone back to an even earlier save to hope that will fix it. We'll see in about an hour or so. Edit: Still can't progress.
