This is absurdly easy
I've disabled markers and everything else, I've turned the difficulty up to max, but I still feel like I'm just walking around and pressing keys that appear on the screen.

It doesn't even let me choose what action I'll choose, it tells me to press the D key to turn the medallion to the right, really? Leave me alone with the stupid advice. It's full of tips everywhere, so that amoebas can play and finish the game too.

I'm not asking for a serious adult puzzle adventure from the 90s, modern audiences wouldn't understand that a game is a game, that it requires effort and sometimes you win or sometimes you lose, not a movie that lasts 8 hours because you have to press buttons following the indication as if you were a lab monkey. But at least let me do something by myself. Let me choose to press the damn D key to turn the medallion to the right.

Quotation marks are not ever used for emphasis, asterisks are.

But that is "the whole point" of this discussion. Some players may need longer and some may need less time to solve the puzzles. Giving this example shows that puzzles in this game are made so that one can not solve them easily without thinking.

This is comparable to trash TV or junk food, the masses demand a product that is easy and quick to consume.

I no longer have hope even for sequels like Alien Isolation 2. They are going to make it game pass fodder. I hope that AI will allow indie developers to make good triple A video games and movies, we will get rid of all the garbage that has covered the current video game and cinema industry in the last 10 years of idiocracy.

That's why I keep talking about games like Half Sword Playtest and Creeper World IXE! I'm also looking forward to some other off-topic games if you want to add me to discuss them.

There's always going to be a certain segment of the population that feels the need to extol the virtues of their superiority through the lens of their gaming choices, and they often use terminology like "the masses," as if they're far removed from the common rabble.

What's frustrating about this divisive attitude is that people aren't so easily categorized into neat little containers. Some people like different kinds of games - and yes, this IS a game - at different times. There are a million reasons why someone would enjoy a game like this right alongside any other game you'd care to mention. It doesn't mean that they're somehow inferior, or settle for what someone else considers a "lesser" form of entertainment. It's patently ridiculous and elitist.
im stuck on the kid who vanished quest, have no idea what to do

Well said.
A previous post compared this to trash tv. I'd say it's more akin to a 'premium television event with limited commercial interruption.'
Heck, the Indiana Jones series itself is a pastiche of adventure movie serials from the 1930s...which is one of the furthest things from "high art" that you can get.
(And I am having a blast so far, despite efforts to stop or shame me by some of these folks.)

Exactly, and to be clear, I have no issue whatsoever if someone doesn't like a game because it's too easy or too hard. I don't "play" visual novels for that reason, and I also don't play Elden Ring or any Souls games for the opposite reason - I'm too old for that sh!t. That said, my opinion doesn't mean that Elden Ring isn't a masterpiece, it undeniably is - it just isn't for me, and I'm not going to be condescending towards anyone who feels differently.

The button prompts actually don't pop up on screen until after a few seconds of inactivity.

Something you wanna come clean about, OP...?
Maybe your reaction times ain't what they used to be? :steamsad:

If you know what to do and do it fast enough you can open up doors before the prompt even has a chance to show up. Pretty much everything in the game will do that

Maybe you just need to Get Gud .......

But on the other hand, remembering INDY FoA or Monkey Island, I somehow got tired trying EACH and EVERY key/item, just to MAYBE unlock something. It was a mindless routine as well, and in the long run not much more fun ^^. Yeah, we solved the riddles. So I get it, when they decided to show you a "reminder", on which key that damn one action was again.

Turn every hint mechanic off or to 0, at least you won't have the interactive items right in your eyes. I kinda like the new mechanics, I REALLY don't want to go back to waste precious time to trail and error point and click adventures --> their riddles were 99% NOT based on logic.

Let's be real, that is how it was.

Sometimes the working folks like myself want an easy stroll through the woods. It's Indiana Jones, and yes - it's made for accessibility. Perhaps in the future they will increase difficulty settings and remove visual prompts, as an accessibility option. That would be the solution.

This is a very well made statement. Several gaming communities have turned into an elitist and gatekeeping direction, making it difficult to have serious discussions about games anymore. Many also seem to have forgotten what gaming really is about. It is not: about grinding for levels in an online multiplayer game, it is not about doing deathless runs in Soulslike games, it is not about speedrunning Mario or Sonic games,...

Gaming is ONLY about having FUN! The moment you get immersed in an interactive environment is when you become a gamer. Playing The Great Circle was a mind blowing experience for me. It doesn't matter if others do not think that this is a great game (or some even argue that this is not a game at all). It doesn't take away from the fun I had playing this game.

Sure, but the point is that one man's "dull ♥♥♥♥" is another man's fun. There's really no need to talk down to people who have a different opinion on the matter
