Runs like crap anyone else feel same way?
I have a Geforcve RTX 4070 , AMD Ryzen 9-9500x, 32gb system memory and m.2 1TB. Latest drivers Windows 11 latest updates.

Runs like absolute garbage the second you enable RT it's over. Another reason why Unreal Engine is kick ass.
Calisto Protocol looks better and ran great.
I'll wait and see for performance fix this week if nothing refund.
No reason this game should run so badly.

You mean the R9 9900X, the 24 thread processor? I don't think the Callisto Protocol looks better, it looks worse in certain ways depending on the scene. Lets not forget how wank the stubble on top of the dudes head looks at times. I was one of the people that got the deluxe edition of that game right when it came out and it was an absolute dumpster fire. Sure it's gotten better but I still have a bitter taste from it. The game wasn't critically acclaimed, it was critically received by just about everyone that bought it at the time. The game also had a credit roll longer than a full size dictionary or novel, too many cooks in the kitchen.

I've watched it in game @ 4k on the tube.
And it's not impressive enough to dog a decent system. Think it runs terrible especially when settings are at mid and the moment you enable RT it's stuttering and locking up. I'll probably be refunding doesn't seem to be something that will be remedied for a long time. I'll wait till it's @ $20 and I'll repurchase then.

Welcome to modern gaming, it's sort of a train wreck all around. Few games are actually ok. I turned the path tracing off in this game, it's benefits don't justify the performance hit. 9 times out of ten RT becomes awash once you get into the game play and stop pixel gawking. I often find RT to be distracting at times given the area and where it is applied. I really feel overall image fidelity suffers from it, yea sure some of the applications of it are more accurate concerning realism but along with that comes it's unpleasant side effects. I'm still not a fan of it. In some areas of this game it makes certain things or scenes look better while in others it trashes. non fully path traced can looks better and in fact more realistic depending on the area, it really depends on the scene.

I watched digital foundries analysis of this game with path tracing, a good number of times in his take of the games use of path tracing I felt like the guy was splitting hairs and sort of seemingly trying to sell the whole RT gig, I'd rather not make a full assumption concerning his intentions but some people are really that avid in terms of being RT fans. Most times I'm on the fence concerning it, I'll look at it play a game with it for a bit and jump back over to the other side of not using it. I like my high frame rates. I'd settle for a game that looks good overall with it capped at 60 FPS, but most the time there's some sort of quality of gameplay and scenery issue that causes me to switch it right back off. For the most part I don't find it that pleasing overall even when it runs good, cause usually as I said before graphics suffer in other areas. Hardware Unboxed really does a great job of covering my issues with it. I'm glad they don't see it with rose tented glasses like a ton of people do. So to sum it up, ray tracing still has a lot of work to be done and way way more powerful hardware to accompany it. For one when it's used the resolution is too low and scaled down too much for artifacts not to appear like graininess, smudged and stirring texture noise, in turn defeats the purpose of the reason for using it, which is to make the game look better and more realistic. It doesn't when you take it's overall effects into account. Too many side effects.

Control a game heralded for it's "amazing use of ray tracing" I still can't stand cause of the graininess that it comes with and the artifacting grainy gaseous piss that is produced on certain doors, floors etc. Now that looks unrealistic in my opinion.
