Hiding bodies is occasionally important if you don't want the patrols to spot it. Particularly generals.
I've never had stealth issues. All you have to watch out for are those spotter-wheels filling up.
Disguises are paramount. You should be searching for those locations as soon as possible so that you don't have any stealth problems.
It's not a stealth game. It's a puzzle game.
Action/Adventure secondary.
I think I'm playing on medium settings and bumped the enemy detection up a bit because it was brain dead. I'm definitely not playing on the easiest settings and selected the hardest puzzle styles, which is still pretty simple.
But what i'm saying is, so what if a patrol discovers a body? Nothing of consequence happens, least of all outside that immediate area. I can practically throw bodies in front of soldiers without issue.
I mean, I'm still really really enjoying the game, I just wish the Ai was a bit more competent
reason for this is because there ain't many options for stealth as for example splinter cell where you get gadgets and different ways to manipulate lighting and stuff to help you through it.
and disguises basicly removes the need for stealth anyway.
if they made the ai smart, with the tools you have, stealth would be a absolute nightmare and a pain in the ass.
Today i pushed a guy over a ledge and he got stuck with his feet and ragdoll dangled about the other enemies who did not give a flying "EFF" about him... haha.
Pure slapstick.
I am crouching 5 m away from NPC-s looking at me and nothing happens. I don't think i have seen such a bad AI in the past 10 years lol.
I agree that the AI is poor, but as others have said, this is most likely on purpose to prevent their carefully crafted "stealth action adventure" story from devolving into another WW2 shooter.
I'm not defending it, though. As OP said, MGS did it (stealth action) very well...more than two decades ago.
Even the almost forgotten No One Lives Forever had "smart" NPC AI that would notice if you opened or closed doors (but didn't put them back to the state you found them.)
They reacted to lights being switched off etc., and got curious. Shooting a lightbulb would cause them to panic once they discovered it had been shot and not simply switched off.
Most importantly, guards would notice if any of their teammates were missing or not at their assigned patrol areas and either call for replacements or set off an alarm.
It's not that we demand more complex systems, but the systems in place should at least have some kind of logic and common sense.
Here, you can literally knock out a guard standing less than 1 meter away from another in complete silence if the other guard isn't looking in the right direction, but non-crouched footsteps apparently get everyone's attention...
Not just this game but Star Wars Outlaws, Helldiver 2, Starfield just to name a few, they all have the same bad Ai. The NPCs will shoot at walls and will see you even when they're looking the other way.
And it can't because it's hard too do, we've seen games from the early 2000's with better Ai. So what's up with all these recent releases being so bad with Ai?
It's really more of a stealth, adventure, exploration game than a combat experience.
Also funny how the game never refers to 'killing' an enemy, it's always 'knocking out'. But I think we all know why that is.
There is a KO mechanic, you can pull enemies from behind with your whip and knock them out
