They are baiting people for a reaction, to drag them into wasting their time with inane nonsense. Or they are baiting people for angry reactions they can report to try to get people banned.
Best to just ignore/block
I have a 350 Ti from Nvidia, which supposedly meets the requirements, and I spent far too much time just trying to play the damn game. I did get it working, got as far as the Himilayas, and then the main menu wouldn't load. Worse, the second update came along and now it doesn't play, period, simply refusing to allocate the video memory, no matter what I do.
I've updated and rolled back drivers, used mods, went in and adjusted my virtual RAM settings, done everything short of add an external GPU and it won't play. I have no problems with other modern AAA games.
Fortunately I'm in the market for an upgrade anyway, but this has been a deeply frustrating experience, especially because I've had a difficult two weeks and was really looking forward to screwing around in ruins.
WHY on Earth do you think your GPU meets minimum....?
That one is a insane low tier Laptop GPU with 4gb vram
The ray tracing really requirement really is a poor choice because it's not really NECESSARY, its a bell and/or whistle. We're not talking VRAM or processing power here
Shadow rendering isn’t necessary, pbr materials aren’t necessary, high poly 3d models aren’t necessary. Nothing is necessary.
Technology isn’t going to be held hostage because some people don’t want to upgrade. If you want to keep your rig as is, thats fine. If you want to play new releases, thats fine. But both… well, you are bound to be left behind.
...... look man I'm buying a RTX 4060ti as we speak, I just need to complain first.
its also very hard to notice the contributions of a technique when looking at it on a very small scale.
What i can tell you is that RT is likely going to be more widespread in the future and might replace rasterisation alltogether. of course we aren't there yet, but i do see the industry moving to that point somewhere in the near future.
Imagine complaining about an RT requirement in 2024, when RT capable cards go back as far as the RTX 20X0 series of cards.
Merry Christmas everyone.
It's not justified, even Geforce Now keep the RT disabled by default on 4080. Again they milking their customers for a feature which will bring only 5% visuals in general. Like the fellas said in previous comments go for a cloud play or leave it, game doesn't deserve the HW upgrade.
these kind of advancements have always happened, and not as a means to "milk customers"
