Why might my laptop be taking up so much VRAM (compared to other computers at the same settings)
I know the game is incredibly demanding VRAM-wise, but I'm getting significantly worse VRAM usage than other computers at the same settings.

Currently, with High settings, High Ray Tracing, DLSS Quality, and Frame Gen off, the game takes up 14.5gb of VRAM. I've seen computers with similarly powered graphics card run the game at those same settings, WITH FramGen and it only takes up 11.5gb VRAM. What gives?

It is not really optimized for the PC yet, I am sure they will work on it some, right now they are looking for any critical bugs that might be in the game.

You're confusing committed VRAM vs Used VRAM. a device with more VRAM will commit more VRAM for a game even if it isn't actually using it.

You can see it all the time, a GPU with 16GB of VRAM will commit more VRAM even with the same settings as one with 12GB of VRAM.

Ok. My machine is maxing out earlier than other machines with less VRAM

I'm comparing RTX 4090 laptop (mine) vs RTX 4070 which is the comparison GPU. Mine has 16gb ram and the 4070 only has 12gb. The 4090 laptop GPU is a little faster than the 4070 as well
