why impose raytracing?
A basic laptop card like the RTX 3060 mobile can run practly any pc game (yes, this is true, even HALF LIFE ALYX CAN can be played with this card on a decent framerate). I am sure that the most part of PC players prefer a higher framarate without raytracing, than a lower framerate with raytracing

No…

Progression is bound to happen, and thats what this is, progression…

There is only ray traced global illumination.

Removing that would mean changing the entire render pipeline.

Because its a native implementation and focussed, this implementation runs far better than any other implementation to date.

Stop holding progression back. The entire reason rasterisation exists is because ray tracing wasn’t feasible back in the day, now it is, and we are slowly but surely shifting from rasterisation to ray tracing.

Using your logic we could get rid of lighting all together, after all, you care more about frames, don’t ya?

Because it looks very good with this game and fps are quite good for me.

You're correct. It's odd that it's forced. Most people can't run games well with it on. It should be an option. It's one of the things that kept me from buying it.

Its not odd at all…

Seriously, why are people who don’t know a thing about graphics engines and render pipelines talking about what does and doesn’t make sense???

Its the native global illumination, because of this reason they had more time to optimise it and it actually runs better than most other implementations…

The reason you can’t turn it off is because its embedded in the render pipeline…

I don't have an Xbox, only this laptop and a PS5. I think I am gonna wait for the PS5 version. I don't like to play first person games on controller, but this game seems to have a slow pace

Honestly I don't even think it hurts the FPS much, and I am on an AMD card at 4k Supreme. Now if there was RT reflections that would be a different thing

You are confusing rasterisation with baked in lighting, rasterisation is the way an image is constructed which this game also uses.

I agree with you that it was only a matter of time before hardware raytracing became mandatory especially as consoles are now capable of it.

I've seen the same reaction every time a new hardware requirement comes in, it happened when Direct X was required or when a 3d accelerator was first required

I am not confused with anything… i have made rasterisation and raytracing engines.

We are at a point where we are going to start shifting to ray tracing completely.

Rasterisation and ray tracing are two vastly different ways of rendering something.
