The problem with RTX 3060 and some other -8Gb VRAM GPUs
This post is a reference to this one:

(TLDR: Hello devs, can you please tell us if the RT issue with RTX 3060 mobile is getting fixed in the near future? :) Thanks)

Indiana Jones & the Great Circle game has a problem with lighting effects related to Raytracing on RTX 3060 GPUs (mobile version) and other older and newer GPUs. The bug results in very dark areas where textures and lighting effects make graphics indistinguishable and characters and surfaces appear with a metallic shine.

- WE KNOW WE DO NOT MEET THE OFFICIAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE GAME, WHICH ASKS FOR A MINIMUM OF 8Gb VRAM, PLEASE, DO NOT POINT THAT ANYMORE. THANKS :)

- Since the RTX 3060 is capable of Raytracing, what we are trying to find out with this post is if any DEV could tell us if this issue is going to be pointed and solved in the future by opening the game to computers with less than 8Gb of VRAM or if that's never going to happen and therefore the owners of these GPUs should avoid the purchase or ask for a refund.

- In the past, another Bethesda game, DOOM Eternal, developed by ID with the same ID Tech engine, had a similar problem with the RTX 3060 mobile (laptop) GPUs and this problem was fixed with a patch.

- I understand that excluding the most popular graphic card according to all the censuses, and making the game exclusive to the most current and expensive GPUs and therefore inaccessible to most peopleis a strange way to go. And usually when you play a game without meeting the minimum requirements you can do it with low fps (although enough) or in low settings or resolutions. But in this case the “either you have this rig or you can't play” decision is so exclusionary that it's kind of rare for such a professional development team.

-Many of us pre-ordered the game as soon as pre-orders opened, but we didn't expect the requirements (which were released very close to release) to be so prohibitive. In fact, the game on the RTX 3060 runs perfectly except for that "error" in the lighting. And many of us have been able to play the entire introduction and first part of the game until the Vatican, where this "bug" makes it unplayable. Being a few hours of play, Steam already makes a refund more difficult. So we're kind of stuck.

-This feeling of frustration and disappointment could only be saved if a dev would shed light on the shadows (almost literally xD) and clarify if this is something to be fixed, If they are aware of it, or if as many believe (not me, personally) it will never be solved and the game will remain with this excluding requirements.

-This is a general problem, you can find many posts here on Steam, reddit and YT without a problem if you Google it.

-Sorry I'm not good at summarizing.

Thanks for reading.

The issue with my RTX 4050 with 6 GB of VRAM was resolved by a mod created by a profile that is here in this discussion. It's the profile asking to be contacted via DM. The mod basically tricks the game into thinking it's running with more than 6 GB of VRAM. My game is now running on medium settings at full HD with 40/50 FPS
Lads, if you have a mod, put it somewhere open and people will take a look. Because otherwise it looks like a scam) DM, write to someone who has a hidden profile.
Fair enough. Well got about 10 people testing now. If all is working well I'll post instructions in a couple hours.

Cant wait :)
Tried to contact you through DMs but your profile is private
Also, wonder if this Mod would work with the PC gamepass version...

Like everybody I’ve got a RTX3060 laptop on a Lenovo legion 5, Ryzen 5600H and 32go of RAM and the game is running perfectly well but there is the issue of gold and black colors when there is no direct light on the scene.
I hope machine games will do something

In any case, good luck) If the mod exists and works, you have already done more than the developers))

Also having this issue. Pushed through the early levels but the jungle based stuff after the Himalayas is unplayable at the moment due to the glitches. Had to stop playing for now and hoping for a fix soon (also 3060 Laptop 6gb).

I caved in. I asked for a refund because i cant play the game with this problem. For me personally it blows cause i know a guy who works at Machinegames but the general talk at the studio is that the launch has gone very well and they have few complaints. The sails are more than they hoped for and both microsoft and bethesda is very happy with the launch.

8GB GPUs are the new 4GB GPUS. It will be completely obsolete in another year.

Its not a bug its just simply Ray Tracing turned off and while talented developers didn't even bother baking standard lighting and shadows thus we have this crap.

There is in-game diagnostic tool you can turn on in options and set to max, Extreme if i recall corectly, and there you can see "RT off".

I got PC Game Pass in order to play. 40 series gaming laptop that's 6 months old. I have the same issues described above, including Brody at the beginning in the college level looking like a robot when he stands in the shadow. The walls are also black if you walk upstairs to your office, with paintings blending into dark silver. The shadows in general are far too dark, HDR enabled and default. The only thing that helped a little was to turn off reflections completely, but it's still unplayable.

The thing that is driving me insane is that I could upgrade to game pass ultimate and play it on my 4 year old Series X in 1800p at 60fps, but that's not why I forked out £1300 for a gaming PC in order to have relatively pretty graphics and higher frame rates.

I have 6 gig of vram and can run it at 1440p low to medium settings, as long as i set the texture poolsize to low. I know people will say "well you need 8 gig of vram to run it, runs fine on my 12 gig card." Respectfully, that's not helping here. At least give us an option down the line to turn off ray tracing.

Is the 8Gb VRAM versión? It should work. I think your issue is related to Nvidia Drivers or settings.

Update drivers to the latest versión, make sure you have Nvidia Control Panel installed (from Microsoft Store on Windows) and look for a tutorial on best Nvidia settings for IJ&GC on Google and Youtube (There are plenty of them)

Good luck!
Thank you so much for your help, Polter.... I learnt what a GPU driver is and how to update one (apparently a week out of date) from Ndivia. Now I just need an XBox controller to play the game!

The minimum system requirement might say 8GB, but this game in fact only requires 6GB for the forced ray tracing to work.
The issue with the 3060 mobile (and perhaps other mobile GPUs) is that they have/report slightly less than 6GB to the game.

I managed to fix this bug by spoofing my VRAM to 6GB (as opposed to it reporting 5996MB to the game). If someone wants to help me test the stability of this modification, send me a DM on steam.
I have posted a guide here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/2677660/discussions/0/537714229566804947/

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Will it work on RTX 4050 6GB VRAM? I recently completed the Watch Dogs Legion storyline with almost everything maxed out in ray tracing on ultra except shadows. It took me 8.5GB VRAM and ran at 50fps. You have to wait for updates and they will fix Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.

Hey! Did you all check this fix?
Take a look to the guide in the thread mentioned above. It works for most cases as temporary solution. That is great news!

In the meantime we will still wait for confirmation form Machine Games or Bethesda for a new patch or a response about our issue.
