This isn't a balls-out First Person shooter, it's a First Person adventure game.
Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis (LucasArts, 1992): no guns, and to the best of my knowledge in this game Indy never used any weapon against an enemy.
Both games are among my most favourite adventure games of all time, btw. I recommend to check them out before The Great Circle comes out.
You are all right of course, in a point-and-click adventure game it is much more difficult to include action gameplay (like they did in The Last Crusade, as mentioned) while here, in The Great Circle, the game is an action adventure and there will definitely be more action integrated in the gameplay.
What I wanted to point out with the examples is that Indiana Jones is not the stereotypical action hero who likes to get involved in fights but that he more often than not uses his wits to fool his enemies. I mean, he definitely uses a gun or his whip or any other weapon when he is forced to, but if he would have the choice between, say, stealth or fighting I believe he would choose the former over the latter.
If I am not mistaken (I did not play the game for many years now) in The Last Crusade the player had two different options to progress in the castle. One was to knock out the guards and the other was to use stealth (where one quickly had to enter a room or a wardrobe or something like this to not get detected by a guard patroling the corridor. It would be nice if in the Great Circle one also has different choices in certain situations.
