Creative Director thinks Indiana doesn`t use guns
I read an article that said: Creative Director says game makes sure to "not encourage gunplay" because "it wouldn`t be true to the character"...why the hell is every single game or movie or series nowadays produced by a complete incompetent person that either hates the original or has never even watched it?

Guns not being true to the character huh? Then what is this?

or this?

Indiana being upset he doesn`t have his gun here

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L28mNl-wg54

And many many more scenes where he uses guns...

Sorry but if I hear such dumb nonsense from the Creative Director already, this game is a no buy. Make stuff you are actually aware of the character. Are guns the new enemy after they successfully removed gender? Now we fight guns?

What do you mean? The guns do indeed have their own genders - didn't you know?

Kidding, kidding. XD

I've watched extensive gameplay videos. From what I can gather, Indiana's revolver is usable - it's just secondary to the iconic whip. I absolutely love violent shooters, but the whip mechanics do look very fun, so I'm okay with it.

While I agree that gameplay itself might be more fun and creative avoiding guns, justifying it with not being true to the character of Indiana Jones is beyond stupid.

They could have just said they wanted to avoid drifting it into a shooter and that would have been fine.

What is the full statement from the director? I could understand the perspective. While Indy certainly uses guns, he's much more of a brawler in the movies (one more reason why being in FP is an odd design choice).

Not sure I would agree with your statement about Indy being a brawler, however. He used whatever means necessary, from guns to bazookas, and had never any problems with it. Lot of handfighting as well, for sure, when he had no gun directly on him (he was not relying on it) or some kind of quieter dispatch was required.

This is the same guy who in Raiders of The Lost Ark cowardly shot the swordsman in Egypt.

Poor guy only had a sword and Indy just shot the dude like it ain't no thang.

That's because they are going the Dark Messiah route over the Wolfenstein route. They want you to do what Indi does which is mess around with the environment to take people out or punch people into propeller blades. While Indi has a gun and has used it a few times its usually to get rid of armed enemies quicker. Most of the time he resorts to melee or environmental trickery so I get why they want to... Especially since there aren't a lot of FPS games where you can use the Enviroment as a weapon.

We've seen Indy shooting guns plenty of times in the trailers they've released so far. There'll be guns in this game. It's just not shooter like Wolfenstein.

Based on the quotes from the article, it seems they have a pretty good grasp on Indy as a combatant. We’ll see how it plays out in execution, but I believe their comments and goal is right for the character.

Exactly because while Indy does have a revolver he usually mixes up what weapons he uses. I have a feeling they might pull a Superhot, Hotline Miami, or I Am Your Beast style mechanic where you have a gun but you are limited to the clip in it. So yes you can shoot your gun but only for a certain amount of time before you reach for a new gun or start using the environment.

They've probably watched it, my guess is they just hate it. They say they wish to modernise, changing the characters nature to fit their own ideology, but have no problem keeping the old outfit designs of the main films and charging you extra for it.

The writers speak loud, they simply hate your character, and the moneteers speak louder, they simply want your money.

I don't think they hate it. We are talking about MACHINE GAMES here. The guys behind Wolfenstein. You played Wolfenstein, the game about a guy who goes around punching and killing Nazis, right?
