Reaper Leviathan extremely quiet?
I was wandering around the Aurora in my Seamoth and thought I heard a Reaper a fair bit away, and next thing I know i'm staring at it right in my headlights! I can barely hear these things now, when last updates I could hear them over the sound of the Aurora falling apart. Is this a bug or a new change?

I started a new playthrough after the update and I haven't met one yet (10hrs into the game). It usually ate my face right when I approached Aurora.
(they seem to be slighty less agressive, than before, also the distance you can hear them seem to be lowered as well (stable))

Yes, I had a similar thing, where I heard a faint roar, but I never met the beast. I was wondering if he was far away, but he may have been right behind me and I didn't know o.o
I've heard an extremely faint Reaper roar but I just assumed he was so far away that I couldn't see him since I was on the edge of a biome.
Let hope its gone FOREVER...
I'm bumping this thread, because three months later the Reaper is still a spook- at least, in my game. Perhaps mine's just glitched, but I've gotten within roughly 30-50 meters of that thing, and it still wasn't making noise. My in-game volume's at 68, and my computer volume is up all the way, so I have no idea what the deal is. The roar is scary, but not as scary as silence in the dunes, followed by a ninja Reaper attack.
Strange. I made a base in the mountain caves and I constantly hear the reapers roaring outside.
Deconstruct the scanner room and sounds will return back to normal. People have been complaining about this issue for quite some time. You would think that they would fix this by now ...:steamfacepalm:
I hear them fine, even to the point of saving me from running into it a couple of times. It has only sneaked up on me once (Which scared the crap out of me) which was north of the Aurora. Destroyed my Seamoth but manged to limp away without dying. I would just be aware of where they can spawn and be mindful, it seems the worse time to be in areas they may spawn is at night. Since you usually can't seem them in the distance till it's too late during that time.
Like ATG said, its the scanner room bug I think. Deconstruct it and wham its fixed!
I really appreciate you guys bringing up the Scanner Room as the problem. I didn't even mention it, and you knew. Thing is, I've been setting up Reaper spotting areas with scanner rooms to set up a perimeter. Of course that would make things worse. So, uh . . . is this problem pretty well-documented and I'm just late to the news, or is it too rare to really be heard? I've never heard any YouTube players bring it up, and I watch, like, five Subnautica channels.
Another thought: has anyone not heard a Reaper coming because they were close to the shaking and rattling of the Aurora wreck?
Nah, I've noticed this as well, and it's not the scanner room bug. I've not even built a scanner room in this save (or any of my other current saves) and the Reaper Leviathan's standard call seems waaaay quieter. I'm wondering if it's a deliberate adjustment because there are a number of volume differences I've noticed since the exosuit update, such as the chargers no longer sounding like enthusiastic didgeridoos and jellyrays suddenly sounding like loud scary UFO's.

If they deliberately changed the Reaper Leviathan call to be quieter, I wish they hadn't. It's so majestically terrifying to hear those big dudes calling out in the distance before you can see 'em, and start wetting yourself trying to spin around stare into the gloom and find where the sound is coming from lmao.
Apologies because I didn't notice the date on this thread, so these two issues are likely caused by something different. :O
Damn you google, tell me these things.
