Tips for early game predators
So, as this update came by i got a new save and everything around me is aggressive as ♥♥♥♥ for some reason. There are wrecks not so far from where im but they are surrounded by sand sharks. The other side is the kelp forest, which is also, surrounded by stalkers.

Is there ANY way to avoid those creatures?

FWIW, stalkers aren't aggressive unless you get decently close to them.

So, that said, I'd suggest you slip into the kelp forest, pluck 9 of the orange-glowing seed pods, grab one titanium from anywhere, and take them back to the escape pod. Make 3 Silicon. Use those to make some flippers, and a knife.

Then, you'll be able to swim faster, and you should notice that you can now side-step the stalkers and slash their flanks. That makes that one leave you alone for... 30 seconds? Maybe a minute? Same trick works on all predators except for the Shocker (just stay the eff away from them) and the Reaper (you'll need a SeaMoth upgrade to scare him off).

My biggest suggestion is back to the pod every time you nab something good. you know the good stuff, lead, gold, silver, by luck of the Subnautica gods i had material for both the stillsuit & lead suit after only 8 forrays.

Stalkers will bring you stuff if you have the right fish in your hand, and I also think the sharks will leave you alone.... Right now I have totally forgot the name. The fast one with the big eye, readily available in the shallows....
And unless they changed something dramatically in the last patch, there are areas of kelp forest almost if not totally without stalkers.

if you are able to side-step predator attacks like Stalkers and Sharks they should also give up after a maximum of 2 attacks and swim away. No Knife needed. It is a Party!

I actually just quit in frustration over how badly they've upped the count and bad behavior of the predators compared to last update.

The stalkers no longer mostly go away during the day. The population of stalkers, sandsharks, and even gasopods seems to have skyrocketed, to the point it takes me so much food and water just to swim around the gasopods alone. Those things are dropping poison clouds everywhere, creating huge minefields you can't do anything about.

The real killer is I can't make anything that requires computer chips because silver is IMPOSSIBLE to get without a stasis rifle. Sandsharks and stalkers practically nose-to-tail all along every border with Kelp or Plateau. I literally swam in a huge circle and ended up at the Aurora because there was not even one meter of shark-less ocean. The shallows are completely surrounded, day and night. How are you supposed to progress?

And no, the stalkers aren't "barely aggressive", they seek you out from a long ways off in my games, at least. The numbers and aggression were sane last update. I'm very disappointed that they had to re-up the starting frustration level like this again. I thought they'd learned better.

Stop encouraging them. I'm very disappointed this game has gone back to being all-but-unplayable due to the stupid unkillable unavoidable sharks.

Yup peepers, and you just need to hold it in your hand.

Use your ears.

Every predator makes a specific sound when they see and target you for attack. Learn to recognize those sounds and be prepared to turn around and strafe to the side to avoid the attack. Then go on offense and either kill them or drive them away with the knife.

Unkillable? Circle-strafing has been a thing since the original DOOM and Quake. I know it takes skill, there's no "Hit E now to Circle Strafe" popup hint. But you can do it, just keep practicing. You can circle strafe around any predator while swinging the knife to either kill it or drive it away.

How to circle strafe: http://www.giantbomb.com/circle-strafing/3015-1367/

I have not yet felt I need to kill the sharks to do what I want in the game.
And I have not been killed by a reaper yet.
But I had one suddenly appear quite close by me, becuase the biome with creatures seemed to load in and dump that thing very, very close... I fled, and somehow I think that it did not register me, as I don't think it pursued... I am still sooo scared of that pixelmonster.....

Seaglide + electroshock upgrade + repar tool - clean area on 5-15 sec
With this combination float through area with reaper

It is not the tech in the game that will save me from that reaper, It will still give me a heartattack :) I am still cought up in its creepiness in an element where I don't belong. Maybe my imagination is just too vivid, or I am an easy scare :D
Avoid them?

As mentioned, you can also kite them in a tight circle and they will never catch you. Eventually they just give up (except biters). Or, if you have enough of a head start you can go up. They tend to abandon the chase faster when you head tword the surface. Alternately you can duck into a cave if one is nearby, or your seamoth. Once you get the seaglide you can outrun everything. Once you get the stasis rifle you can avoid/kill everything, but the reaper. The perimeter defence upgrade on the seamoth will make everything in the game run except shockers. Carry a medkit.

Don't go into dangerous areas at night. Everything is more aggressive.

I might die once every other update from predators.
