Cyclops lights.
Does the cyclops have any external lighting? Once I'm below 300m it's pitch black and can't see anything without using a seamoth.

Yes it does with the new update on the right side of the bridge should be display that pops up allowing you to turn external lights off and on. Also the cameras you can view if you look left while piloting the cyclops have lights as well.

Thank you.

Cant believe I didn't notice that. I thought that was just the interior light panel. Thanks

Also just in case you didn't notice this either - while driving the Cyclops there's a Camera icon on the left side of the Cyclops HUD. Click it for a better view in front of the Cyclops while driving - also the exterior lights will show more while you're in the camera. You won't see much if you're in regular driving view.

WHOA! Yeah I noticed the icon before and playing with a gamepad, I was using left trigger on it like most everything else to interact with, and the horn would always sound. I thought it was the horn. Didnt know it was the A button. Everything elese has a button promt, that didnt.
Now I know and the game just changed dramatically for me! WOW
THanks

Also, there are three different cameras to choose from once you're in the camera view. One on the top of the conning tower, one back by the prop, and one in the center bottom which is SUPER useful when diving.

Have fun!

The cameras are often better than the lights, if there's any light at all. The glass "fog" doesn't affect them... and that "fog" turns nearly 100% opaque - I'm talking "white sheet pulled over the bubble" - when the lights are on in certain conditions. A lot of players, including myself, find them to be more of a hindrance than a help in 9 out of 10 circumstances. I'm forever turning them on, seeing that they make things worse, not better, and immediately turning them back off again.

Yep. Need to be able to craft some Windex! It's basically impossible to pilot the Cyclops without using a camera these days.

the lights are great if one want to light an area hes searching for something ... i wish they had an option to change them to a focused drive and the one we have now mode

Another thing I find helps me see outside the sub, turn off the interior lights when you are piloting it.

Since the lights aren't very helpful at deeper depths, cyclops sonar, similar to Seamoth sonar, would be a very nice thing indeed. :) Of course it'd only be useful if we could somehow use it at the same time as using the cameras.

I can't understand how or why this is not here yet. The effect is already in game (for the Seamoth), so I can't imagine too much coding would be required. The Cyclops has two upgrade slots with nothing to put in them, for crying out loud! While the Seamoth goes from 4 to 2 available after you put in the mandatory depth compensator and the now-mandatory-if-you-want-to-use-it-more-than-90-seconds solar charger. One vehicle has half the upgrade slots it needs, while the other has double what you can use!

I dunno, I like the [i[idea[/i] of sonar, but I think the approach of just showing you the triangles used to draw the game is tacky and immersion-breaking.

Maybe the terrain wireframe is yet another EA placeholder, rather than the final visual effect. Or at least I get that impression. Regardless, it works well enough.
Rhedd Oct 6, 2016 @ 11:53am
Hating the wireframe is... odd. A rendered model of a transparent 3-d surface might very well be (is even likely to be) depicted as a wireframe like that by a scanner. It's fine. I'm not even certain that it does depict the exact tri layout of the game terrain, since there's zero visible geometry in thte lovely terrain itself.

Don't think so hard.
