Food For Cuddle Fish

They can die, if they get eaten. But they don't have to be fed.
The closest you can get to "feed them" is to "feed them to the bio reactor ".

If you play with them you will often give them a biscuit (that appears out of nowhere).

It's likely they noramlly just eat anything they can find and/or plankton/krill-like lifeforms found in the water.

To interact with cuddle: must be outside of the containment. Only then will they be "friendly". And, yes, once they're outside, it's pemanent. So you either watch them inside, with no interaction. Or release them into the wild, where you can discover their cute behaviours. Your choice.

Agreed. Although I will freely joke about it, I would (like to think I would) never do it.

You can't put grown Cuddlefish in the bioreactor. Only the eggs.

Also, the limit on how many you can find is 5, but I've noticed a lot of time capsules have Cuddlefish eggs, so you can potentially have more than 5 in your game that way.
