What direction is pod 17 from the escape pod you start in?

I went to the escape pod but I didn't explore the cave system there as i was low on resources but now I can't find my way back, and I know that there are fragment etc there. I remember that it was about 500 meters from the escape pod but I don't know in which direction. Please help.

Do you have the beacon? Reactivate it in the PDA Beacon Manager.

If not, it's west-southwest.

Similar predicament like you only its the island with the disease containment facility. Any idea how to get there? I know its not too far from the Alterra wreckage but I cannot system to find it at all and end up at the edge. Unfortunately there are no relevant markers I can turn on from the PDA menu.

In your case you can. I think its the middle tab on the PDA menu, you need to turn the eye symbol on that will activate the marker again. Pretty much right next to the pod you sould see a giant crevasse you can keep descending to.

If not look to the harizen and see the clouds in the background moving. There are to large clouds sitting on the sea that are not moving. Those are islands.

Well I went north on my seamoth. Nothing came of it, I was about 6000 KM away from my pod but no island. The only island I can get to is the one where you find habitats up in the mountains and a dry land meet up quest by captain Keen.

If you go 1,000 meters North-Northwest from your lifepod you should be able to at least see it.

Do you have the beacon for Lifepod 3? If so, start at your lifepod, swim to Lifepod 3, when you get there, keep swimming in the same direction.

You can also stand on your lifepod, look north (toward sunrise), pull up your PDA and look *through* the PDA screen to *clearly* see a strange looking static cloud floating on the surface of the water.

Just wanted to see how far I could go. Also I pretty much explored the area wtih captain keen and habitats on top of the mountain so thats not a concern any more. Either way my second attempt was more successful and I did find the island. Turns out if you look up from underater you can see the island sticking out clearly, unobstructed by thick clouds.
