What hardware are you using, what drivers do you have? Do you have any mods? Are you using any Nvida card overrides?
What I can tell you based on what many players have reported here:
- Delete everything inside Documents/My Games/Oblivion Remastered/Saved except the SaveGames folder (to avoid lose your saves if you don't have steam cloud)
Why? This will force the game to recompile the shader cache. If you recently updated your GPU drivers, the old shader cache may mismatch and cause frequent crashes.
- Start the game once with the -clearPSODriverCache command line argument.
Why? Because the step above doesn't always fully clear all cache files. This argument ensures a clean rebuild.
Important: Remove the argument after the first launch; you only need it once.
It is very important to delete and recompile shader cache every time you update (or downgrade) your GPU drivers, as well if you change your GPU hardware.
Not doing so can lead to stutter, to extreme stutter to freeze and ultimately to crashes, depending on your hardware.
Systems behave differently. For example, I’ve played over 70 hours on a 4090 without a single crash but crashes are very real and well reported on this forum. In most cases, corrupted or mismatched shader cache is the cause.
Other known crash triggers:
Crafting potions too fast -> just slow down a bit.
Using stolen ingredients -> avoid them.
Marksman 75+ can cause crashes on specific hardware when trying to apply a paralyze effect to an NPC already affected by it (you can avoid this by add specific lines to your game settings, i can provide if you think this is the reason of your crashes)
Hopefully this helps you stabilize your game.
What i wrote above your post is valid for you too ^^
In cases where it's unavoidable the best solution is to run ahead of the party and clear things out first (and/or turn the difficulty down just to get through those fights). Other then that just quicksave frequently.
