Too close too Doom?
Hello!

Doom: The Dark Ages is just around the corner. I can understand the strategy behind releasing a game close to a competitor...but Id and Bethesda aren't competitors, they are owned by the same parent company.

I get the feeling Oblivion Remastered actually cannibalised a portion of Doom's sales. Do you think the release of these two games are too close to each other?

No, two different genres.

No? Play everything overtime. It's a great time to be a gamer right now!

Eh, only if you have time/money for one of those. People who want both otherwise are going to get both, and the genres dont really overlap. In either case, if people were only going to buy one or the other anyways due to time/monetary concerns then they were going to do that anyways, right? And maybe they will get the other down the line in sale.
You can't shoot fast bullets in this.

I am not buying the new Doom game.
There is no Cyber Dragon in this one so no ;)
You new to the games industry? Games sold during summer sell less. Many people are outside. Either release now or painfully wait and lose money to release in fall/winter.

Bethesdas goal is whatever Microsoft wants to be their goal. Microsoft wants to aggressively inflate the value people perceive of game pass. Game pass is a very good deal, but the steep price is a consequence of that plan.

I would recommend game pass right now, especially while this release is new and has no substantial mods. I bought it because the original was an important piece of gaming history to me, and I want to promote the prospect of a Morrowind remake. I say remake because even OG Oblivion mechanics make it look dated.
So would you have me be deprived from my favorite games just because Doom fans wouldn't be happy?

"deprived"? That's a tad dramatic...

I'm not trying to "deprive" anyone of anything. I just figured the devs would put more distance between releases.
nah... doesnt matter here. different type of game, so it is very unlikely, that the playerbases actually overlap by more than a neglectable amount.
There is room in this world for both, that is what being a gamer is all about.
When DOOM comes out then people will play DOOM. Most people will probably put this game on hold or outright drop it until they finish it.
