Tried it as well, no dice.
May be worth noting that the key `GraphicsDrivers` did not exist in that path prior to me adding this.
edit: for clarity, also linux. Nobara 41, proton experimental (though i've tried hotfix, as well as all the GE-protons from 9-23 to 9-27 inclusive
edit the 2nd: I also tried swapping out all the dlss and streamline dlls for ones from a game I *could* enable framegen on (Cyberpunk 2077)
it's called a "cpap machine" and probably the best investment I ever made, considered I no longer have debilitating migraines and cramps every morning
Dang. I'm out of ideas, I'm a Windows user, DLSS frame generation requires HAGS to be enabled so, my shot in the dark was "maybe if the reg key is present the game will believe it's that"
Next things I'd try are WINE_DISABLE_HARDWARE_SCHEDULING=0 %command%" on Steam CMD and DXVK_CONFIG="dxgi.hideAmdGpu = True" if you're on Ryzen and have the iGPU enabled, I'll keep an eye and if I hear anything from friends that game on Linux I'll let you guys know
It's been forever and I'm just now relearning Linux (mostly for my server)
Yeah they're on Linux tho, that seems to be the issue
Turns out for me at least, it was because I had hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling turned off. Turning it on made the option accessible.
That is a Windows option, I am unsure why he replied to that post with that.
I've been monitoring this thread off and on while trying to resolve the issue and I'm coming to the conclusion that it is simply impossible to enable DLSS Frame Gen on Linux. I've done the following:
* Verified integrity of game cache
* Full uninstall/reinstall of the game
* Tried various versions of Proton (Hotfix, Experimental, GE, and CachyOS)
* Switched to a completely different Linux distribution (tried with both Fedora 42 and CachyOS)
* Updated to the latest Nvidia beta drivers
* Created a registry key in WINE to show HAGS as enabled
* Used the "WINE_DISABLE_HARDWARE_SCHEDULING=0" command
* Used the dxgi command to hide an AMD GPU (I don't have one, but wanted to test)
* Used DLSS4 prefixes to force frame gen on
Everything failed. I genuinely don't know what else could possibly be tried at this point - especially since I forced frame gen on and still didn't turn on. I think we're just going to have to wait for someone out there to fix it.
OG Oblivion would chug along at 6-10 fps on my PC back in '06, and no video game company gave a rats tail about it. My only option was to get a better computer. If I were in the same boat today I could enable frame gen, and if the fake ai frames bothered me that much then I could still go buy a more powerful computer and run it the traditional way. PC games have always been designed for high end hardware, up until recently the only thing to be done about it was to spend a ton of money keeping up with new releases. Now we have more options, which is a good thing.
Or to use your own metaphor, YES a gas mask is a godsend to people who need it, and you'd be a jerk to argue they shouldn't be made just because you don't need one.
