What curios do you always skip and walk past?
I'm curious if anyone else has them. I realise there's some that are worth skipping if you don't have the item to get the best out of them, but I think a few seem geared wrong.

For myself, it's pile of books and bookshelf.

I realise the bookshelf has a weighting of results that doesn't make it bad (counting nothing as a good result) but I tend to skip that.

The pile of books are odds on going to get you something negative. There's no item I know of that makes them 'good' either.I think I've suffered so much at the hands of the RNG with them that I never click on them and always walk past them.

I never usually choose books or booshelves either, but the one im confused about is the sacrificial alter in the warrens. Ive heard you have to use a campfire log on it for it to positively effect you. I dont know how it would effect you, nor in most situations find it even worth the sense in knowing to sacrifice a camp. Or if it even works in the first place

I always choose both books and bookshelves for maps and positive quirks like "Ruin/Wealds/Warren scrounger/adventurer".
But never choose damn iron maidens (can't remember anything positive from them beside rare cases of poor loot).

Herbs and the maidens are your friend, obviously not as good without.

I almost never touch anything at all unless I have something to interact with it or I know it's relatively safe (sacks, crates, and chests mostly).
I never touch any Curios unless my units do it without consent, except the following:

1. Altars - the Holy looking ones. Usually only good stuff
2. Chests - only with a key
3. Scroll - only with a torch

Never open anything else unless I'm just throwing together 4 Cart units and going in a dark run to collect some gold then leave.

Thanks, Daemonus, will try this.
There was time when I bring a lot of different stuff for test on curios, but missed that one (probably experiments ends for me when Highwayman had heart attack when I force him to fire books >_< It made me think that highwaymen for some reason likes to read very much and always send them to check books ever since).

Books, bookcases and occult scrawlings (tanned human flesh in the warrens) are the ones where you cannot guarantee a positive outcome, even with supply items. Naturally these are the ones I avoid. The big stone altar in the warrens gives 15% crit to 1 hero, last time I checked. This is certainly not worth sacrificing a log for.
The 'scrawlings on dead skin' . I don't read any spoilers so not sure if they have some positive outcomes. Every time I've tried using it nothing good has come out of it though, so stay clear now.

DONT SKIP THOSE BOOKS!

Click the book shelf and the books in the early days until you get your quirks maxed out at 5. After that you can skip. The positive chance outweighs the negatives here.

Just about the only thing I wont touch with out the right reagent is a grave or a dead body.

I know the bookshelf is just me, as odds on you'll get something positive (inc nothing) even with no item.

Grave definitely dodgy, the locked cabinet too without the item.

I don't mind those things where it requires the right item as you can plan for them. Pile books is just loaded against you, and that's even before the RNG has decided you're going suffer.

We have very different opinions on the books. I never touch them.

You're right, you're statistically likely to get something beneficial or nothing at all but, any curio that causes stress early game is by far the most damaging imo. It's the difference between needing and not needing post mission stress relief.

It probably says something about me as a person when I'm not willing to gamble while the odds are in my favor.

The grave and locked cabinet will always be bad unless you use the right supply item.

The grave and locked cabinet are FANTASTIC with shovel/key.

What do they give you for each?
