Either way Im sure this one will be fine for mindless Hack and Slash to curb some bordem.
Gauntlet 1985 was one of them. A truly hard game that I looked away because of the newer version of video games that existed at that time. (mid-late 90's) And much easier for me to understand and play as a toddler (I didn't realize there was mob spawner and would spend minutes on a corner until I got overflowed and ultimately died).
Gauntlet Dark Legacy brought a brighter side of Gauntlet that I enjoyed. The new version of Gauntlet will be a new spin-off of the classic ARPG title that is Gauntlet.
It also reminds me of Baldur's Gate. (another classic)
Everyone knew that I could be found at the gauntlet or joust game pumping quarters in like a tripping maniac. Looking for that damn key to make it to the next level.
Hey, dont poke fun. This is what everyone did in the 80's where I grew up.
No one gets out alive youngin' :P
In fact, at that time I was pretty young and got a job running an arcade for a while so I also was able to get some free playing in. Another co-op game at the time was Joust which I also loved.
I purchased an Amiga back in the day and there was a port of Gauntlet II as shown here. http://youtu.be/R26vq29q6Jg
The original Xbox had Gauntlet: Dark Legacy which was basically Gauntlet: Legends.
I played them all and I'm looking forward to this one.
For all the kids, this was the beginning of Co-op play that allowed players with different capabilities. It was the absolute best co-op experience back in the day and the pre-cursor to all the co-op, top-down games you see today like Diablo and more. They would have never existed if Gauntlet didn't pave the way.
Wizard...needs food BADLY!
I had Gauntles DL on the XBOX and it was ho humm
According to kid, someone who is over 21 is old. Yet when you are 21 and see 15-18 years old you think "you still a kid..." even though we call you "teenager", you are a kid
Heck, on that weird machine you could multiplay Settlers with 2 mice. ^^ good times.
Kinda annoying PC has a knack of acting up with too many game controllers. :/
I've played it. For hours. And let me say they look nothing alike.
I mean the biggest thing that gets me, is that in ALL the Gauntlet games, even the one you're talking about, most of the monsters are one hit kills. That's why they send hoards at you and that's why all of them feel fast paced. That's why most of the people are complaining.
In the demo, they're hacking 3-5 times are every monster. Not to mention that they seem to be have puzzles, obstacles, and wide open spaces, something which doesn't show in the other games. That means less monsters, that means longer fights and longer time inbetween fights, that means less hack n slash feel more a slow rpg feel.
Which is why everyone is complaining. There are enough rpg games out there.
Give us a arcade game!!!
